COVID Cases On-site We have been fortunate to not have any positive cases onsite until this week, but unfortunately we had three students with positive COVID-19 results attend school on Monday 6th (06/12/21) in the following classes: 5M, 5B and 2F. One positive student also attended before school care. All families were contacted via phone and Compass notification promptly to collect students deemed as ‘educational contacts’ to take them for a PCR Covid test. Once students return a negative test result, they must provide this result to the office before they attend school again. We have also strongly recommended that after the negative PCR test is received that parents use the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) for 5 days. Testing centres should have supply of these tests, some parents have reported the Tullamarine testing centre on Mickleham Road was supportive. Thank you to staff and families for their understanding, I appreciate this is concerning news and something will be monitor closely. Also big thanks to the admin team and anyone that assisted this morning with the collection of students, your help was most appreciated. Teaching Placements for 2022
We begin this week’s newsletter by confirming our teachers allocated to each year and specialist programs for 2022.
We’ve been really fortunate to secure some experienced staff to support the Tutor Learning Initiative and further Intervention and Extension programs in 2022. Amy, Jane and Lacey-Rae will work in different capacities across 2022, but all come with a wealth to experience to further support or extend the learning outcomes of students.
Jane working to support intervention and extension for part of Term 1 and then taking an extended period of long-service leave in 2022 and Carol is taking some long service leave in Term 1. Kirsty Finter is taking some leave to study Educational Psychology, which is an exciting opportunity to further enhance her knowledge of supporting student well-being. We hope to see Kirsty often as a CRT during 2022. We still have one teaching role advertised, due to the late nature of some workforce planning news. We hope to fill this position shortly with a successful candidate and share this news with the community. We are indeed very excited about the composition of our new teams for next year. We are certainly blessed to have such talented and dedicated teachers at Oak Park, who will once again ensure that all students right across the school are well placed for the new school year ahead. Carols Night – Tuesday December 14th
Please come along to our Carols Picnic on Tuesday 14th December. We encourage families to bring along a picnic blanket for sitting on the ground, as well as supporting comfortable social distancing for this event. We have our fingers crossed for a lovely summer’s evening for this event from 5:00 -7:00 pm with carols commencing from around 5:30. Our updated Operations Guide from the Department of Education allows us to host an outdoor event using a COVID safe plan. As this is a large outdoor event, check-in via the Service Victoria app will be required and adults attending school premises need to show evidence of vaccination. We will have staff on multiple entry points to support these arrangements. We appreciate your understanding to ensure we can host our carols safely. Vehicle Loop – Please don’t park We appreciate that school drop off and pick up times are busy, and this week we had near miss from a parent parking in the vehicle loop and reversing out. Please don’t park in the vehicle loop at drop off or pick up times. The parking spot in this space is only for emergency vehicles or tradespeople engaged by the school. We will continue to monitor this space over the final weeks of term. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal Grade 6 Graduation

Our operational guidelines from the Department of Education are clear that any school event will require 'Adults attending school premises to show evidence of vaccination'. On Tuesday 14 December starting at 5 pm at the Carols Night, the PFA will be holding a Second-hand Uniform Swap & Sale. This gives families at school an opportunity to bring in any uniforms that are no longer used and swap them for other sizes available. All funds raised from the second-hand uniform sale go to the school. Uniform Swap Guidelines All items handed in must be in good condition and clean. Items brought in will be inspected and exchanged for tokens as follows:
Tokens do not expire and will be transferable to future meets. Please aim to bring in items towards the beginning of the swap so we can have them available to others. We will give families the opportunity to exchange uniforms for tokens prior to the swap, but there will be no swapping until the swap opens at 5 pm. *Items will be for sale on completion of the swap portion of the meet. The prices will vary between $5–$15 depending on the condition of the item. Parents running the swap meet will price each item based on its condition.* PFA are happy to accept any unwanted uniforms that do not require swapping such as from Grade 6 students leaving the school at any time during the meet. Please read the rules below: ♻ Bring items that are clean and in good condition. ♻ When you arrive at the Swap, you will be given swap tokens depending on the items you bring. ♻ Once the items are at the Swap, they are no longer yours. ♻ Nothing can be claimed until the host opens the Swap. ♻ Spend some time browsing the items and chatting to the other swappers. ♻ Once the host announces the Swap is open, you may claim items according to the number of tokens they require (1, 2 or 3 tokens). ♻ If two or more people want the same item, the host or representative will referee a match of scissors, paper, rock or other game. SUGAR FREE-ZIES ICY STIX DAY The PFA are excited to announce that Oak Park Primary, supported by the No Nasties Project, will be hosting a Sugar Free-zies Icy Stix Day at the Carols Night to raise money for our school.
