New Solar Panels – Main Building As part of the school’s commitment towards Sustainability and utilising green energy, we’ve recently upgraded the solar panels and inverter on the Main building roof space. All the power from both systems helps reduce the cost and carbon footprint of the school. This is all in addition to the significant solar system installed on the Gym roof space. We’re thankful to the Victorian School Building Authority for the grant and contractors to complete this upgrade. All the materials from the previous system are sent for recycling and reuse wherever possible. All positive news coming to Spring and Summer as the UV and heat increases. Parent, Caregiver and Guardians Opinion Survey Reminder
The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. A random sample of 110 families have been selected to participate in this year’s survey. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September. If you received the link and physical note in your child’s bag, please complete the survey as we really want to hear our community’s thoughts on our school and how we can improve it and to celebrate our successes. If you have any queries or have lost your survey code, please contact the office on 9306 9182. Final Day of Term – PPD – Students not required to attend school. Friday September 16th Just an additional reminder for our upcoming Professional Practice Day, a workplace requirement for Government Schools. Students are not required to attend school on Friday September 16th. This advice has been in the newsletter for the last month to ensure parents are aware of the date and purpose of the day. This arrangement is to enable the most effective and efficient use of this day and responds to the lack of Casual Replacement Teachers (CRTs) available at present. To ensure the least disruption to learning and families our Consultative Committee has endorsed the date of Friday September 16th, the day after the final school concert. Students will not be required to attend school on Friday 16th September. This day will enable teachers to plan and further prepare for Term 4. If you need supervision support on this day, please email the school at [email protected] or call on 9306 9182 by September 9th. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal School Concert

CONGRATULATIONS to Rafael, Dylan and Santiago , what a great achievement! Visual Arts
The big announcement of the top ten finalists, and the winner of the school concert advertising and DVD competition was announced last Friday at the school assembly. The following students were selected as the top ten finalists: Sarah 3/4S, Vinudi 3/4P, Aanya 5C, Diya 5C, Parker 5C, Mia 6D, Sarah 6D, Saraansh 6D, Charlotte 6J and Mia 6J.
Each staff member at the school voted on the top three designs they liked most, using a three, two and one point system. After much deliberation the winner of the competition was selected by adding up the points each design received. The winner of the competition was Mia Musa from Grade 6D. Congratulations Mia! Mia was presented with her prizes at the assembly last Friday (as seen below). Also a big congratulations to those students selected as finalists. The designs will be on display on the big screen at the Clocktower Centre on both nights of the concert. Thank you to all of those students that took the time to enter the competition. It was a difficult task for all of the staff at OPPS to select the finalists and indeed the winner of the competition. Now we look forward to the concert nights on the 14th and 15th of September.
