King’s Birthday Holiday
Monday 12th June is a public holiday for the King’s Birthday. School is not open and students are not required to attend. I hope families enjoy the long weekend. Student-Led Conferences June 21st Just a reminder that June 21st is also pupil-free day as we have student-led conferences from 9am - 7pm. Bookings are now live, please book via the Compass app. Students will not need to attend school for the whole day, and will only attend their meeting with parent and teacher. As it is a student-led conference it is important that they come with you. School uniforms are not required. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with teachers, as students proudly present work from their portfolios. Student reports will be live for download on Tuesday June 20th to help support discussions during the conferences. Car Park Safety The school's car park for staff members is still being used by parents for student drop-offs and pickups. We kindly request that families refrain from using the school car park for these purposes. As the number of parking spaces available for staff is limited, we ask for cooperation in utilizing the designated drop-off zone located on Summit Avenue. Additionally, we would like to remind families to use the pedestrian gate adjacent to the staff car park when entering the school, rather than crossing through the staff car park before or after school hours. Outside School Hours Survey We greatly value the input and participation of our community of families who utilize the Outside Hours School Care (OHSC) service, as well as those who have yet to experience its benefits. As an integral part of our ongoing commitment to continuously improve and enhance the quality of our service, we are eager to gather survey data from both existing and potential OHSC users. OHSC SURVEY LINK Your valuable responses and help shape the present and future management strategies of our service. By taking the time to complete the survey questions, you contribute to the development of a more tailored and effective OHSC experience for all families involved. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal Interschool Sports

Science In the science room we have been learning about chemical reactions. A chemical reaction is a process where a set of substances undergo a chemical change to form a different substance. Our experiment this week included some very familiar household items that when combined, created a brand new and exciting mixture. This followed on from our work last week about the different states of matter. Our experiment was called the ‘Wizard’s Brew’. Students worked in small teams to combine their various items – making predictions and comparing results along the way. Our chemical reactions created some exciting results! Students were thrilled with their brews! Performing Arts
Grade 5/6’s students are excited to perform their independently planned drama work this week. Each group was given the same task and they completed it by choosing the characters, scenes, and plot. Students had to work together to create a successful product and many groups rose to the challenge! There have been creative storylines, funny characters and even hand sewn costumes. It was wonderful for the class to collaborate, share their plays, and have another chance to perform for their peers. Japanese
Students have been very excited to create their own Pokémon cards and anime characters in Japanese this week. During this activity students are bringing together their knowledge of Kanji numbers, months of the year, colours and animals to describe each character. They are having lots of fun using their imaginations and knowledge of Pokémon and anime to create and draw each character. This activity also allows students to practice writing the Kanji characters we have been learning as well as using Hiragana charts when naming their character. We will continue to work on these characters next week but here is a sneak peek of some of the wonderful work so far! Physical Education
Please see the attached form for an exciting opportunity these school holidays! If your child has ever wanted to build their strength, fitness and footy skills to compete at a higher level, then you may be interested in this. Kind regards, Liam Visual Arts
In Visual Arts lessons, students in Grade 1 and 2 have been learning about the significance of the dragon in Chinese culture. Dragons are often a feature in Chinese Art, such as sculptures and paintings. They also appear in many festivals held each year. They are seen to represent power, prosperity and strength. Some people also believe that dragons are responsible for controlling the elements and natural disasters. The students thoroughly enjoyed creating and learning about dragons. Below are some examples of the watercolour artworks created by the students, using a combination of drawing and painting techniques. Great work Grade 1 & 2! Your dragons look ready to battle in the mountains of China! Team Kids
