The actual singing will start from 5:30pm. At this stage we’re planning to host the event on the grassed oval area, toward the gym. To the families of Oak Park Primary School, It is with extreme sadness that we are saying goodbye to our awesome children and wonderful parents. As of Term 1 2024 Team Kids will become the provider of our Before and After School Care program. For over two decades, Dawn and I have cared for so many amazing children, we have watched children grow and develop and have helped nurture them along the way. We learnt of their interests and passions and embraced their many, many talents to always create a nurturing and engaging environment. We smiled every day as we watched them learn and play - a privilege that will never be lost on us. We also made many lasting relationships with countless families who, in turn, became an extension of our OHSC family. You will all be missed dearly but your kindness will never be forgotten. We have also worked with some incredible staff members at Oak Park Primary School during our time of service. Thank you to the many teachers and education support staff both past and present, who always supported and appreciated us and our work in the program. While it has been a recent challenge to secure qualified staff, we would like to extend a very big thank you to Alison German and Christine Tripp, for their incredible service over many years and to Karin Bryan and Beenish Malik without whom we would never have gotten through 2023. We would also like to thank Sheryl Hamilton, who is an Education Support staff member at the school, for always offering her support when needed. They all played such pivotal roles in providing so many enriching experiences to our children and always offering the highest quality of care. We have always strived to make our OHSC program more than just a service. We have tried to make it an extension of home for all children - one where they are safe, cared for, listened to, and feel part of a very big family. It has been an absolute pleasure to be a small part of your lives for so many years. Sincerely yours, Julie Andrews and Dawn Cadee Students Leaving

Thank you Family Carols Night
A week to go until Family Carols Night! We have many excited students looking forward to the event! The songs for each year level have been posted on Seesaw or Google Classroom so students can practise the lyrics in their own time at home. The songs are Christmas themed and focus on celebration and the joy around this time of year. We are mindful not to include religious based songs in our selection as we would like our whole community involved in this event. Students look forward to the tradition of knowing that the songs stay the same for each year level. For new parents, please expect a fun and casual night for both you and your children. We encourage families to bring a picnic, enjoy chatting with other parents in the community and of course enjoy the singing through the night. The teachers look after the students while the singing takes place so you can enjoy an hour on your picnic rug child-free. We encourage students to wear something festive such a Christmas t-shirt or red or green coloured clothes. We hope to see you all there on Thursday 7th December at 5pm! Foundation Breakfast

Visual Arts Grade 3 and 4 students have been learning about renowned Russian artist Wassily Kandinksy. Kandinsky was born in Moscow, Russia on December 16, 1866. He grew up in the Russian city of Odessa where he enjoyed music and learned to play the piano and the cello. Kandinsky would remark later that, even as a child, the colours of nature dazzled him. Both music and colours would have a huge impact on his art later in life. Kandinsky went to college and then became a law teacher. However, when he was thirty he decided to change careers and become an artist. He attended art school at Munich, Germany. Early on his art was influenced by painters like Claude Monet as well as music composers and philosophers. About 1909 Kandinsky began to think that painting didn't need a particular subject, but that shapes and colours alone could be art. Over the next several years he would start to paint what would become known as Abstract Art. Kandinsky was one of the founding fathers of Abstract Art. Kandinsky felt that he could express feelings and music through colours and shapes in his paintings. For example, he thought that yellow had the crisp sound of a brass trumpet and that certain colours placed together could harmonize like chords on a piano. The shapes he was most interested in were the circle, triangle, and the square. He thought the triangle would cause aggressive feelings, the square calm feelings, and the circle spiritual feelings. Below are some examples of the abstract artworks created by the students in Grade 3 and 4, using Wassily Kandinsky’s style as an inspiration. Red Cross Toy Drive
