Upcoming ‘Reuse’ T-Shirt Winners! As a follow up to our recent enviro-week theme of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – we will be hosting a re-use event for students to print a design on an old t-shirt. Congratulations to the winning designs selected by our friends at Bobbin and Ink: I am recycled - Mia 6J Lemon Slay – Naida 5C Rainbow cloud - Raymond 3/4T Smiley shirt – Saige 1/2A We’ll work with these students and their design to translate their work to stencils.
Thanks to all the classes that submitted their shortlisted design. We’ll promote the event via Compass when we’re ready-to-roll the paint. 😊 Specialist Programs – Science and Japanese! We’re really excited to announce an additional specialist subject for 2023! After surveys and feedback from parents, students and staff – Science will become a specialist subject for 2023 and beyond! We have also secured a Japanese teacher for 2023 to ensure this program can once again operate as a specialist program outside the regular classroom setting. Stephanie Lambiris steps into the Science role with great excitement and Natalie Smith joins us to lead Japanese. Nat has worked with us in 2022 as a CRT for many long-term vacancies, we now officially welcome Nat to our Oak Park teaching community. Both Science and Japanese will operate as semester-long subjects, while Physical Education, Performing Arts and Visual Art will operate year-long for all students. Great to have 5 different specialist opportunities for students across the year and provide curriculum-driven variety and excitement for our students. Gaga Ball – initial construction The Gaga Ball pit project has began! The fundraising for the Gaga Ball Pit from student efforts and the school musical has allowed us to proceed with pouring the concrete foundation for the pit. The remaining construction has been estimated at $6,000-10,000. Funds from our Election Sausage Sizzle and Zooper Dooper fundraising will support the remaining amount to complete the project. A really ambitious student idea, I’m proud of the dedication and commitment to the design and fundraising. Our School Captains and Year 6 fundraising leaders have worked with a landscape architect to design the area and arena, whilst they will graduate before the project is finished we’ll ensure they’re commemorated on the structure and invited to the opening in 2023.

Zoe has had her final vaccination and is now able to go out for walks and socialise with other dogs. This is a photo of her at her vet appointment. She loves going to the vet because everyone is so friendly, and she gets treats. The vet said she is in perfect health, and she now weighs 4.2kgs. Zoe’s first day has been rescheduled to Wednesday 7th December. The winners of the poster and colouring in competitions will be announced next week and their time with Zoe will be arranged from Friday 9th. So exciting!!! Parents, it would be great if you could reiterate these expectations with your children at home and discuss the importance of how they will assist Zoe in learning to relax.
We hope everyone is getting excited for Zoe’s arrival! Grade 6 Graduation
The Grade 6 Graduation will be held on Thursday 15 December, and the PFA is organising a supper for Grade 6 parents that will be served after the graduation ceremony. We are looking for Grade 5 parent volunteers to help prepare and serve the supper from about 6:30 to 8.30 pm. Volunteers will need to have a current Working with Children Check. If you can help out, please email [email protected] with your WWCC details. Thank you in advance for your support! Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Our Compass visitor sign in has been updated and now requires your WWC details to be input when visiting the school. Please ensure you have your card on you so you may sign in. We ask parents to also forward a copy of their card to our school email [email protected] so we may have on file. Online Lunch Orders

Over the past week we have had Oak Park Girls Footy Team come and run some clinics for a select few grades of 3-6 students. They practiced a whole heap of skills including marking, kicking, handballing, tackling and general gameplay strategy. Oak Park Primary School is a huge feeder for the footy club, and we hope to continue this tradition. If you need any more information about joining, please call David Wells on 0417 521 357 Visual Arts
Grade 1/2 students have been busily working on their Artist focus pieces this week and have produced some fantastic results. The artist focus for the students is none other than Ken Done, who is now 82 years old and resides in Sydney.
The artwork that the students have been basing their pieces on is called ‘Night Birds’. Done’s original painting was in an art exhibition in Osaka Japan, 30 years ago in 1992. Below is a small sample of the artworks created by the Grade 1/2 students using oil pastels. Please enjoy! Team Kids Holiday Program
