Maths Dispositions in Classrooms This week, we have been highlighting an important maths disposition: "Understands and experiments with multiple strategies." We encourage our students to explore various methods when solving mathematical problems. This approach not only enhances their understanding but also fosters creativity and adaptability. By experimenting with different strategies, students learn to find the most efficient solutions and deepen their mathematical reasoning. Teachers will be incorporating activities and discussions around this disposition in the classroom. We invite you to support this at home by encouraging your child to try multiple ways to solve problems and discuss the different strategies they use. Together, let's inspire our students to become confident and versatile problem-solvers. Upcoming Curriculum Day Reminder – Friday May 31st A reminder that our upcoming Curriculum Day is on Friday, May 31st. This is a student-free day. On this day, our staff will be collaborating with Mathematics consultant Maree Croft, to enhance differentiation in problem-solving instruction. Please note that Team Kids will be available for supervision support if needed, you can book via their online portal or by contacting the service via email at [email protected] . Thank you for your attention and support. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal |

Zoe Update
Who doesn’t love a ZOE update?? This week Zoe has loved spending time with the grade 5/6s. She sniffed out cupboards, slept on couches and was very helpful collaborating during our Maths lessons! She had a turn of being librarian for the morning and enjoyed listening to the students read. Alessandro said "we love Zoe!". MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS
On Tuesday, the 3/4s had a thrilling excursion to the Melbourne Museum and IMAX Cinemas to further deepen their inquiry into our Geography Big Idea “Our World.” Students had the spectacular opportunity to watch the film “The Great Barrier Reef 3D” and explore all the beautiful qualities of this natural wonderland. Students were mesmerised as they got to have an unforgettable adventure by virtually getting to swim sea turtles, giant mantas and sharks as well as learning about how we need to protect this sanctuary in years to come.
A big part of our excursion was getting to explore some of the awesome exhibitions at Melbourne Museum. Students were left captivated by some of the amazing dinosaur skeleton models at the “Dinosaur Walk” exhibition. Another major highlight was watching some of the 3/4s adrenaline levels rise and stomachs turn as they entered the world of insects, spiders and snails when we entered the “The Bugs Alive” exhibition. Overall, it was an action-packed day and exciting day that students will cherish for a lifetime! |
UPPER SCHOOL
Grade 5/6 Visual Arts Textile Adventure
Grade 5 and 6 students have embarked upon an exploration of textile arts! In Visual Arts classes, students have been investigating the world of weaving and stitching, creating individually unique designs using natural mesh fibre and wool. With guidance and research, students have been given the opportunity to express their creativity and sharpen their fine motor skills, through the intricate process of weaving and stitching. Students have been using plastic needles and wool, and an array of techniques including weaving, cross, continental, and brick stitching, to create vibrant patterns and textures. Each design a unique reflection of their individual imaginations. From geometric shapes to abstract compositions, students have embraced the challenge of translating their ideas into tangible works of art. Through this hands on experience, they have not only learned about the technical aspects of textile arts but have also cultivated patience and perseverance. I look forward to seeing the final results! Grade 6 visit to Glenroy College
