Positive Feedback and Updates
Thank you again to all parents that have reached out and provided positive feedback about the remote learning provided by teachers and continued support from ES Staff. At present the remote learning period has been extended until midnight Tuesday the 27th July and we look forward to welcoming all students back on-site next Wednesday the 28th of July. We’ll continue to send updates via Compass news `feeds explaining any restrictions in place regarding drop off or pick up arrangements.

2022 Foundation Enrolments
As we near our transition planning period for our 2022 Foundation enrolments, we again seek the support of existing Oak Park families to formally enrol siblings who are eligible to begin school in 2022. This is not an automatic process that is based on an existing enrolment. An individual enrolment form is needed for every student. If you require any assistance with the enrolment process, please don’t hesitate to make contact with the main office on (03) 9306 9182 or email oak.park.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

Assemblies
We’ll put together a short pre-recorded assembly from our student Leaders to continue the connectedness and positive endorsement of student achievement. Watch out for an additional news feed with the attached link for assembly.

Kind regards,
Michael Gill

Orange Juice Challenge!
Hello OPPS community! As you are aware, David (Visual Arts) and John (Sustainability STACS) have been working on an indigenous bottle top mural with volunteer students during lunchtimes on Thursdays.

We are in desperate need of orange bottle tops such as those found on orange juice bottles. We are in good shape for all of the other colours used for the mural, but for some reason we are low on orange lids. Could families please collect orange lids and send them to school (when we’re back) and give them to either David or John.

Your assistance with this will be much appreciated!

ELECTRONIC BABYSITTER??? HOW ABOUT SOME EDUCATIONAL, FUN APPS?
It’s not ideal but we are all trying to go about our lives at home and supervise kids (yes, I’m doing it too!) and it’s not easy. At times we resort to the electronic babysitter to allow us a few minutes to get some important tasks done, so why not make this time worthwhile with some educational and fun apps for the kids? Try these apps from the App Store:
  • Worm World
  • Wilderquest
  • WWF Together
These are great activities to explore but also provide some great lessons, particularly to do with the environment, so well worth it. They are all free too, so it won’t cost you anything.

Foundation News
This term, the Foundation students will be learning about Community Helpers through our Discovery Learning Program.
This week, the students started exploring some different community helpers through play-based learning at home. We saw firefighters, police officers, teachers, nurses, doctors, vets and construction workers. We are so looking forward to seeing the students engage with our Community Helper discovery stations when we return to onsite learning.

This week we have also been learning about the digraph ‘oo’, so we decided to take a virtual trip to Melbourne zoo and write about our experience. Check out some of the animals we saw and wrote about. Congratulations on your great learning at home, Foundation students!
