Principal's Column
I would like to thank the Oak Park Community for making me feel so welcome during my first 4 days at the school. I have visited each classroom and the children have been telling me about what they love at their school and I have been very pleased to hear that they love learning, feel safe and are proud of their beautiful school environment. As a community you should all be very proud of how your children greet each other and me as a new adult in the school. They are so friendly and have been eager to share their knowledge of the school with me. I am currently having 20 mins meetings with each staff member to learn about them and what they are proud of at Oak Park PS and what they see as the next steps for the school. On Tuesday I also had the pleasure of meeting some of the parents and I look forward to meeting more of you over the term. Please say hi if you see me in the yard before and after school. Oak Park is a very focussed place of learning, the calmness across the school each morning as the learning day starts is very impressive. I have hardly seen a late child, which is fabulous, as being on time for the start of the day sets the tone for the rest of the day of learning. Thank you again for your warm welcome. Keep being learners. Loren Peavey Acting Principal Anzac Day

At any other time they may be purchased from the Office Please assist by bringing the correct money. Thank you Grade 3/4 Local Excursion

Welcome to The Specialist Corner. We have created this section in the newsletter to keep the community informed of the great learning happening in the Specialist classrooms. We hope you enjoy the weekly updates. DOJO Awards To create a positive culture within Specialists classrooms, all Specialists teachers use the DOJO system to encourage students to show positive behaviours within the classroom. Teachers can encourage students for a variety of skills or values- whether it’s working hard, being kind, helping others or a class focus. Students then receive points for these behaviours which then get added up at the end of term. The students who receive the most DOJO’s for the term then receive a DOJO certificate to take home. The following students who received the most DOJO points in Term One. Congratulations! We hope your amazing certificate is displayed proudly at home! Premiers Reading Challenge
Here is a message from Premier Dan Andrews regarding this year's Reading Challenge: https://www.education.vic.gov.au/about/events/prc/Pages/premiermessage.aspx Getting involved with the challenge is a great way to motivate your children to read every day. It's also a fabulous opportunity to encourage reading for pleasure and to enjoy getting lost in some stories with your children. If you'd like your child/ren to participate in the Premier's Reading Challenge this year, please email your child's name and grade to me at: [email protected] Happy reading!
