Principal's Column
End of Term 3 As the term draws to a close, we hope students will enjoy our upcoming Footy Day this Friday and had a wonderful Wellbeing Wednesday. These events have helped maintain engagement in our remote learning platforms. A big thank you to our Specialist team and classroom teachers for the engaging activities this week. We understand that there is a lot of nervousness about the start of Term 4. Like you, we are very eager for students to return to face-to-face learning at school as soon as possible, pending the health advice to ensure it is safe for students to return. We sincerely hope that there will be some announcements in the coming days so that we may prepare accordingly for the final term of 2021. Over the last several weeks, we have supported around of 45 students on-site each day. These students have accessed this support through authorised worker permits, as well as students who have been deemed as vulnerable. We sincerely thank parents and carers for the complex conversations that have needed to take place on this matter. For students attending on-site this Friday 17th September, please note that dismissal time will be 2:00pm to coincide with the end of the school term. Term 4 will begin on Monday 4th October for all students. Further newsfeeds will be issued towards the end of the school holidays to confirm all arrangements for the upcoming term. Enrolments and Transitions for 2022 We are very grateful to parents who have made contact over the last week in regards to enrolment changes for 2022. As we move into Term 4, we ask parents to continue to liaise with the school on this important matter, as this information greatly assists the school to fine tune its planning for next year. As plans unfold for the return of students at some stage next term, we will provide families with all of the necessary details for the Foundation Transition program. We thank everyone for their patience on this matter. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal |
Visual Arts
These are some of the wonderful artworks created by OPPS students in remote Visual Arts classes during Week 9. There were plenty of wonderful artworks submitted this week. Thanks to all of those students that participated in the online learning for Art in Week 9. Please stay safe and well during the holiday break and I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Last call to log any books before the Challenge closes this Friday. Grade 5/6 - AusQuest
Grade 5/6 - Historic Narratives
Grade 5/6 have been learning about the history of Australia and how it grew from a penal colony to a federation of states. They have been exploring the journey from Britain, daily life in the early days of the colony and the ways that the Aboriginal people were treated. The students also used primary and secondary sources to research how and why people migrated to Australia and the impact that this has had on the country’s First Peoples and the environment. We have been reading Nanberry Black Brother White by Jackie French as a mentor text. It is a Historic Fiction, which teaches its reader about the real people who were there in the 1780s. The Grade 5/6s have used their research about the time period to write their own chapter for Nanberry. Some have also written to Jackie French to explain their purpose for writing and the different strategies they have been employing. We hope that you enjoy the following excerpts from the students’ work. Milly, 5B
