Principal's Column
Thank you – School Musical I just wanted to express my thanks firstly to Melanie and to all students, teachers, ES staff and parents that made the first night of our musical such a success. Your support is most appreciated. As a school we are fortunate, lucky and so pleased to provide such a high quality musical - after such a long break from large school events. Our musical provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to experience the joy of acting, singing and dancing and showcases the immense talent we have at Oak Park. Bravo and thank you once again. Cycling Fundraiser – Go Shardy! A message below This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it. And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer. Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve. https://theeventsmovement-riders.cmail20.com/t/r-l-widudh-biugduiii-hr/ Together, we can save little lives. Thanks for your support. Shardy Please enjoy the Term 3 holidays and stay safe. We look forward to seeing you all on Monday 3rd of October for Term 4. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal School Concert
Thank you so much to all families for the amazing feedback from the concert last night. The students have learnt so much from the experience, not only singing and dancing yet challenging themselves to step outside their comfort zone. Performing is different for each student, some find it daunting and others love it. One thing they all learnt is that when you trust your peers and help each other you can truly show something special.
I would also like to thank all the staff and parents who helped make the concert a success. A lot of time and effort went into the show and it could never happen without our amazing community efforts. Thank you to you all! Good luck to all the students tonight! Japanese News
Our Japanese Immersion program will be coming to an end as we move into Term 4. We would love to share with you some of the activities created by Melissa sensei and bravely implemented by teachers in their classrooms throughout Term 2 and 3. A job well done by all teachers involved and to the students of Oak Park for participating! The Grade 3/4s had plenty of fun learning about the art of parfait making. They practised writing and saying the many popular fruit toppings they could include on their dream parfait.
The Grade 5/6 had enjoyed learning the “Nori Nori Dance”. They memorised the lyrics and dances and
we have incorporated it as a brain break activity. We had been learning the difference between onsen and sentou. Students have enjoyed the Panda Sentou picture book. Students practiced using Shuwa to help them remember the story. Then, students matched the Japanese sentences with the appropriate English translation. Students loved the short quizzes to refresh their hiragana/katakana and found Kanji quite challenging. We have enjoyed engaging the lessons, thank you Melissa sensei! Art Japanese News
