Riding for Good! Sharkya (Year 6) and Shardya (Year 3) are once again completing the Great Cycle Challenge. This is their 3rd year riding to raise money to support children diagnosed with cancer. Some words from Shardya explaining the challenge below. This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it. And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer. Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve. Together, we can save little lives. Thanks for your support. Shardya
If you would like to contribute a donation to support this great work, please follow the links. Sharkya’s Donation Link Shardya’s Donation Link Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal Return to School
From October 18th, students in Years 3-6 will be required to wear a face mask when indoors at school, unless an exemption applies. Exceptions include students with a physical or intellectual disability where their disability means it would not be suitable. |

During Term 4 students will have the opportunity to perform in a fun, safe and informal manner within their own classes. It will be a great opportunity for students to reconnect with their peers and enjoy participating in all the fun activities Performing Arts has to offer. Whenever possible classes will be taken outside and social distancing rules will be followed. I hope the students have been enjoying their Specialist Wednesday program during remote learning and we all are looking forward to the return of the junior school onsite next week! Mad About Science
Crazy Kitchen Chemistry Incursion Dear Grade 3/4 Parents/Guardians, This term, students’ will be exploring the ‘Big Idea’ of Change as part of their Inquiry Learning. We are planning on formally introducing our new Inquiry topic with an incursion on Friday 22nd October. Mad about Science will be running an online incursion called Crazy Kitchen Chemistry. Students will participate in a 60-minute online session where they will watch demonstrations and complete activities that will help them to understand what chemicals are and what happens when they interact. Important: Students will have the option of participating in the demonstrations by using kitchen materials they have at home, or they can simply watch the demonstrations as modelled by the presenter. Sustainability 5/6 STACS/Sustainability work to view After our unit last term on Endangered Animals, I wanted to celebrate some of the great work that was completed by students, either on bringing attention to the Tasmanian devil (our student-elected focus animal) or international animals that are in danger of becoming extinct. Please check out the page attached to your child's class to see if their work is there (some I was unable to upload due to file type issues etc. so apologies if your child's completed work is not available online). You are invited to leave a "like" for those that impress you and of course encouraged to read and find out more about the Tasmanian devil and its plight, as well as the range of animals around the world that are facing the possibility of extinction. I think you will agree that the work samples up here are pretty impressive and showcase the effort students have made to complete their tasks to a high standard. Grades had different foci for their work, some being about raising awareness, some being about changing attitudes to the animal, some about changing behaviours etc. Other students engaged in planning a fundraising event (which unfortunately has not been able to take place yet due to remote learning - you will hear more about this once we return to school. This is a safe space where no communication is able to occur and no student is identified by anything other than their first name. There were plenty of wonderful artworks submitted this week. Thanks to all of those students that participated in the online learning for Art. Please stay safe and well and I look forward to seeing you all very soon. Indigenous Bottle Top Mural….We still need orange bottle tops
In order for us to be able to complete the Indigenous Bottle Top mural, we require orange bottle tops. We are asking for families to please assist us by collecting orange bottle tops that would normally be discarded, and send them to school with your child(ren) when they return in a few weeks time. They can be given to either David or John. Thanks in advance! Community News
