Principal's Column
Remote Principal Unfortunately, COVID finally got the Gill household and I was the last to catch it. Due to the required isolation, I haven’t been able to attend school on-site this week but have been available on email or phone and attended online meetings where possible. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused and a big thank you to Sally, Alex and Meagan for their support this week to step up and assist where required. New Canteen begins this Friday Our new canteen begins operation this week, from our kitchen in the gym by the parent run company Sweet Karma. Orders are collected on Thursday at the office using the usual bags and lunches provided on Friday. School Council was keen to engage a new local service to promote healthier food options and also engage with a provider that will respond to feedback. At present this trial is setup for Term 3. We’ll seek feedback from the school community after a few weeks of operation to ensure this new service is successful as possible. Welcome Naomi as new Business Manager Welcome officially to Naomi Di Pasquale as our new Business Manager to Oak Park. Naomi visited last term for handover with Brinley and is excited to begin at Oak Park. Naomi comes with years of experience working in schools, most recently in Bundoora. Please give Naomi a warm welcome if you see her at the front office. We farewelled Brinley last term with a beautiful quilt, thanks to staff and Sheryl for their generous contributions. Brinley accepted a position closer to home in a school she’d worked at previously, we wish all the best and a much shorter commute. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal Welcome

We all so excited that the concert term has arrived! Classes are working on their songs and dances, we are playing songs over the loud speakers before the bell and students are beginning to understand that every person/character helps bring the story to life!
We are beginning to create costumes so if you know your child will be absent on September 14th and 15th please let me know ASAP- [email protected] Please read the school newsletter each week to keep up to date with concert news. The school concert is such a highlight for the school year, I hope your family enjoys this special experience! Let the fun begin! :) Visual Arts
Over the next few weeks, students from Grades 3-6 will be involved in creating an advertising poster/DVD cover for the school concert production “The Lion King Junior” in September. Students will participate in two art classes to make a start on their artwork, in which information and feedback with regard to the concert and their artwork will be provided. Students will then be bringing their artwork home to complete for the next two weeks (art supplies required to complete the competition entries will not be provided by the school). Please note: If students do not wish for their design to be submitted for competition purposes, they must still return their artwork as a part of their regular art assessment. Artwork for the competition is to be returned to the art room no later than Friday the 5th of August. We will be selecting the winning piece of artwork shortly after receiving all entries, and the winner and 9 other finalists will be announced at a future assembly and the concert nights. The student selected as the winner will receive two free concert tickets, a poster of their artwork as well as an art stationary prize. Good luck to all of the students from Grades 3 to 6! |
