Honouring Service: Oak Park Leaders Attend the 94th Annual ANZAC Ceremony
We are proud to share that our Student Representative Council (SRC) and School Captains recently represented Oak Park Primary School at the 94th Annual ANZAC Commemoration Ceremony for Students at the Shrine of Remembrance.
Being accepted to attend this ceremony is an honour for our school. It provided our student leaders with a moving opportunity to reflect on the service and sacrifice of our veterans in a historic setting. The highlight of the service was seeing our School Captains represent our entire community by laying a wreath at the Sanctuary. They did so with great respect and solemnity, embodying the values of leadership and empathy that we strive to foster at Oak Park. Participating in such a long-standing tradition allows our students to connect deeply with our national history and understand the importance of remembrance. We are delighted that our leaders could play a part in this special event on behalf of us all. Instrumental Music Survey – Last chance to complete! PFA News
PFA Fundraising Success at Bunnings Sausage Sizzle The PFA would like to extend a huge thank you to our wonderful school community for their support at the recent Bunnings Sausage Sizzle. Despite a wet and rainy start, the day was a great success, raising just over $2,500 through the sale of 930 sausages. Every contribution helped make the event such a positive outcome. A special thank you goes to our fantastic volunteers who generously gave their time on the day: Patrick, Sue, Lola, Jordan, Luis, Sumit, Melinda, Mazz, Matt, Mike, Tom, Vito, Steven, Lori, Marika, Maxine and John. We would also like to sincerely thank the Denham and Nash families for their very generous donations. Your ongoing support makes a real difference to our school community — thank you all! EARLY YEARS NEWS
Foundation
Foundation - Cra-Z Hair Day What an action packed Week 3 has been for Foundation! We began the week learning the sound /z/, so to mark the occasion we had Cra-Z hair day. Boy George would have been proud! We had coloured hairspray, crazy spikes, rainbows and even a baby doll! We blew up a storm with our crazy hair craft and the Grade 6 buddies joined in the fun helping out with some activities in the afternoon. Foundation - Mother’s Day/Special Person’s Afternoon Tea
On Thursday we invited the lovely Mums of Foundation to an afternoon tea. We enjoyed a singing performance of My Mum, (a remake of the ol’ tune My Girl) and then a feast of scones, jam and cream, which were a hit. The Foundation students also made lovely flowers, cards and delicious coconut balls for their Mum’s to enjoy, however, I’m not sure many of the coconut balls made it home! It was a lovely afternoon, a big thank you to everyone who attended. SPECIALIST

Grade 5/6 Shrek Auditions
This week, our Grade 5 and 6 students showed courage and enthusiasm during auditions for Shrek Jnr. With over 140 auditions for 7 lead characters (and 23 speaking roles in total), the energy and talent displayed was so great to witness. A huge thank you to the 12 staff members who generously gave their lunchtimes to help with the audition process. Their support made a huge difference for our students, helping them feel confident and encouraged every step of the way, this process couldn’t be done without the support of so many staff members. Auditioning takes courage. It requires students to step outside their comfort zone, embracing the challenge, and showing their talents. Regardless of the outcome, every student who auditioned has gained a valuable experience—one that will serve them well as they continue their journey through high school and beyond. With 23 roles in total (and some roles with double casting) we know that many students will have the chance to experience speaking on stage, our main aim is to have as many of our students have an opportunity. It takes effort and extra rehearsal for double casts but we think it’s worth the effort. We are aiming for the cast list to be revealed next Friday, 15th May- a day we can’t wait to celebrate together. Congratulations to all our Grade 5/6 students for their bravery and enthusiasm. The future of theatre at our school is bright, and we can’t wait to see these young performers bring Shrek Jnr. to life! Secondary College Tours
