Class Placements 2026 and Circle of Friends Lists As we begin to plan our new classes for 2026, there are several important factors that will be carefully considered. In each new class, teachers will aim to ensure a balance of academic abilities, social competencies, behavioural traits, and inclusion needs, so that the classes at each level have an almost identical profile.
Additionally, next week students will complete their "Circle of Friends" sheet, where they will list five friends who support them in their learning in class. It’s important to note that students will always have at least one friend listed, and there is no hierarchy or order of best friends. This activity helps us understand social connections and supports a positive classroom environment. Please ensure you discuss this process with your child to ensure that make considered choices. Please rest assured that all these factors are thoughtfully considered, as our goal is to create the best possible learning opportunities for all students. Given the complexity of this process, we kindly ask parents to not request specific friendship groupings or teacher preferences. Outside of the information above, if you believe you have extenuating circumstances we might not be aware of regarding your child’s placement for 2026, please provide these details via email to [email protected] . Thank you for your understanding and support. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal WHAT'S HAPPENING @ OAK PARK

Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day is on November 11th, and commemorates all Australians who have died or suffered in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. The date marks the 1918 Armistice that ended fighting in World War 1, and the day is observed with a 1 minute silence at 11am, to remember and reflect on these sacrifices. On behalf of Glenroy RSL, we will be selling poppy symbols before and after school. Please look out for the Grade 6 students who will be selling poppies, wristbands and badges depicting Rosemary as well as diggers hats. Foundation Transition 2026
Nothing beats the feeling of saving lives together!
When it comes to helping a cause, sometimes it can seem that by yourself, you don’t make much of a difference. But, when you join in with friends or workmates, you realise that together you really make an impact. We’ve just started the Oak Park Primary School Lifeblood Team! We’ve found a way to be part of something bigger with Australian Red Cross Lifeblood’s group donation program (and we’re really proud of it). Together, we can make a real difference. Whether you’ve been giving blood for decades or you’ve just started thinking about it, it’s the perfect time to join our Lifeblood Team. You can donate together or on your own — it all counts towards our team’s goals. Every drop counts. We have decided to do our own blood drive between November 2025 – February 2026. Can we count you in? We have made the conservative goal of getting at least 25 people (including staff, families or friends that have a connection with OPPS) to donate within this period. Of course, we’d love to double that number! Get involved at lifeblood.com.au or contact our Lifeblood Champion, Sally Morath on [email protected] for more information. As a current blood donor, you are welcome to ask Sally about the process and what to expect when you donate. Term 4 Zooper Doopers

Chess Tournament
The Interschool Chess Tournament will be held in the Oak Park Primary School gym on Wednesday 26th November, beginning at 9am and finishing at 2.45pm. Entry fee is $44 per students and entries close on Wednesday 19th November. Please bring lunch on the day. Further information in the attached EARLY YEARS NEWS
Foundation Breakfast
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Who doesn’t love pancakes dripping in maple syrup? Slurping down an ice cold OJ or apple juice? Lounging around all day in your pjs? Sounds perfect! Well, that’s what we have planned for our Foundation Breakfast on Wednesday 12th November for only $2 per child. The students are so excited and of course, we NEED wonderful parent helpers to ensure the pancakes are flipped, maple syrup is flowing and fruit is sliced and diced! If you have a valid Working with Children’s Check and are available from 7:40am (sleep ins are overrated…) then please contact your child’s teacher – but hurry, places are limited! Please see attached invitation for further details. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Kate, Jasmyn and Sarah SENIOR SCHOOL NEWS
Year 6-7 Transition
Tuesday 9th December is a state-wide Year 7 Orientation Day for all Year 6 students attending a Government Secondary College in 2026. Further information will be supplied by the relevant Secondary College. SPECIALIST
Performing Arts
We are excited to invite you and your family to our upcoming Family Picnic Night. Students will be singing Christmas songs and it’s a wonderful opportunity to come together as a school community and celebrate the end of the year. Details:
While students will be supervised by teachers during the singing, parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children for the remainder of the evening. We kindly ask that children are not dropped off without an adult present. This is also a fantastic chance to meet other families, especially new parents in our community. And who knows—Santa might even make a special appearance! So, bring the whole family, soak up the sunshine, and join us in celebrating the end of year. We look forward to seeing you there! Printed Artwork T-Shirt Update Following our incredibly successful Great Southern Land – Beach to Bush Art Show, we are now in the process of finalising and collating all printed artwork t-shirt orders. We are currently photographing the selected framed artworks from each year level, including those marked with sticker dots. A small number of orders did not have stickers placed on the artwork, so we have been cross-checking physical order forms to ensure every student’s piece is included. This additional step has put us slightly behind schedule, however we still anticipate all t-shirts being printed and delivered to classrooms before the end of November. Thank you for your patience and understanding. What a special keepsake to celebrate our very first biennial Art Show — your child’s artwork proudly printed on a t-shirt! We are so grateful for the incredible support and turnout from our school community. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make the event such a wonderful success. TeamKids
