Thank You for a Wonderful Family Carols Picnic! What a fantastic evening we had at this year’s Family Carols Picnic! It was wonderful to see so many families come together to celebrate the festive season with us. The beautiful singing from our students filled the air with holiday cheer, creating a warm and joyous atmosphere. The event wouldn’t have been complete without the delicious sausage sizzle and the ever-popular Thanks a Latte coffee van, which kept everyone fueled and refreshed. A huge thank you goes to our incredible teachers and education support staff for their support in making the evening such a success. Special thanks to Melanie for her outstanding organisation and tireless efforts in coordinating another memorable event. We’d also like to express our gratitude to the MFB for their assistance in helping Santa make a grand appearance—it’s always a highlight for the children! Thank you once again to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this wonderful community celebration. 2025 Teacher Grade Placements Please find below a list of teachers and grade placements for 2025. Please note, this list of teachers is the help students and families with transition into 2025, we are not seeking requests regarding specific teachers for specific students. This process has now been completed with great consideration and care. Relevant students and families with diagnosed anxiety or increased transition needs will be contacted by the Wellbeing Team next week to begin connecting certain students with their 2025 teacher. We’ve been fortunate to recruit some fantastic new staff at Oak Park. Demi Filippatos, Dilara Yilmaz, Michael Roach, Sarah Morris and Nicola Holmes (part-time) are all joining our teaching staff. These staff were all thrilled to be joining us at Oak Park and come with positive references to have a wonderful impact for our students. Across this week and next, these teachers are visiting for planning with their 2025 teams. They will also be in attendance for the ‘Meet the Teacher’ event on December 18th.
We bid farewell to several staff this year. Caitlin Williams is returning to maternity leave shortly and Anu Tillekerante has picked up an ongoing role at another school. We wish them both all the best for 2025 and beyond. We also farewell Kate Simmonds and Jo Toman, two part time staff that made a great contribution to our Senior School in 2025. Both returning to maternity leave, Kate welcomed Audrey earlier this month and Jo finished up on Friday to commence her leave. Rachel Turner is taking a year to travel to Canada with her partner and will return to the school in 2026. We wish her an fantastic voyage and appreciation for her new chilly climate. We congratulate long time staff member, Tess Haycox who has picked up a teaching role closer to home. Tess has been with the school over 15 years and was interested in a shorter commute and an opportunity to work in a smaller school. She will be greatly missed by staff, students and families. Please take the last of two weeks to welcome new staff (Wednesday 18th December) and pass on congratulations to those leaving for other opportunities. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal WHAT'S HAPPENING @ OAK PARK

Graduation Parent Supper, Thurs 12 Dec: volunteers needed The Grade 6 Graduation will be held on Thursday 12 December, and the PFA is organising a supper for Grade 6 parents that will be served after the ceremony. We need parent volunteers to help prepare and serve the supper between 6.30 and 8.30 pm. Traditionally the parents of grade 5 students help out as a way of paying it forward for the following year, but parents from all year levels are welcome. Volunteers will need to have a current Working with Children Check. If you can help out, please email [email protected] with your WWCC details. Thank you in advance for your support! C.S.E.F

We are thrilled to share that two of our Oak Park Primary School students, Taylan and Aydin Ertan, had the incredible honour of being selected to walk out with the Matildas during their match against Chinese Taipei at AAMI Park last night. This unforgettable experience was made possible through their aunt, Selin Kuralay, a former Matilda, Olympian, and recent inductee into the Hall of Fame for Football Victoria. It was a proud moment for both boys and for Oak Park Primary School, as they represented our community on such a prestigious stage. Well done, Taylan and Aydin! SENIOR SCHOOL

Thank you to all families who attended our Family Carols Night. It was a lovely way to come together and celebrate the festive season. A special thank you to the Mannix family for their generous donation of the stage, and to the ‘Green Gala’ event team for providing the Photo Booth. Both contributions helped make the evening even more special! We also want to acknowledge the hard work of our teachers and staff, whose efforts were essential in making the event a success. And of course, a big thank you to the families who joined us, despite the hot weather—it was such a great turn out! We are fortunate to have such enthusiastic students who brought so much joy and energy to the evening, making the event a memorable one for all. Thanks again to everyone for your support, and we look forward to more community events in the future! More photos in next week! Community News
