A Holiday Message from Zoe, Our Wellbeing Dog
Woof woof, Oak Park Primary! 🐶💛 As we hop into the holidays, I just wanted to say a big thank you to all my wonderful friends at school! You have been so kind, caring, and gentle with me, and I feel very lucky to be part of our Oak Park family. I’ve had so much fun this term, from joining Japanese classes to spending time with the amazing students in the 3/4 and 5/6 rooms. Whether I’m listening to stories, helping with learning, or just enjoying a quiet moment with you, every visit has been special. Your kindness and care make my days so much brighter, and I can’t wait to see even more of you in Term 2! Wishing everyone a fun-filled holiday and a very Hoppy Easter! 🐰🐣 Stay safe, enjoy your break, and don’t forget to take care of yourselves—just like you take such great care of me! Grade 1 News
To conclude our Inquiry unit on Identity, Grade 1 students created a special piece of writing inspired by The Best Part of Me by Wendy Ewald. They chose a part of themselves that makes them special and explained why. Some wrote about their hands for drawing, their legs for running, or their eyes for seeing beautiful things. They worked through the writing process—brainstorming, drafting, revising, and publishing—adding details and feelings to their work. This activity helped them appreciate what makes them special while developing confidence and writing skills. MIDDLE SCHOOL YEARS
Middle School News: Inquiry EXPO
On Wednesday 2nd April 2025, the five Year 3/4 classrooms held an Inquiry Expo where students first shared their work with each of the other classes, and then in the last hour of the day, parents were invited to attend their child’s classroom to see their work. The unit was titled (and focused on) OUR IDENTITY and after almost 10 weeks of an inquiry cycle with an immersion, tuning in, finding out, sorting and taking action - culminated in students creating an Identity Wheel and a Personal Narrative. The Personal Narrative is writing that has gone through the writing process of planning, drafting, revising, editing and then publishing and illustrating. During this process students are frequently conferenced, receive and act on teacher (and to an extent some student) feedback and produce their final writing which parents were able to view at the Expo. The entire process takes time to do well and as 3/4 teachers we are proud of how our students were able to tap into their favourite memory/ experience of a tradition that is important to them and share with their peers and families. Well done 3/4 students! Please find some photos from our classes sharing students work. SENIOR SCHOOL YEARS
Grade 5/6 Camp
Grade 56 Camp- Written by April 5/6D (School Captain) Last week Grade 56 students went on school camp to Portsea. We stayed 3 nights and 4 days. We had a great time at the beach, we did High rope activities, the giant swing, night activities including Trivia night (my team won it was a good night) My favourite part of camp was swimming in the beach with friends and walking in nature observing the sea life. Thank you to all the teachers and parents who came along to camp, and made it really special especially for the Grade 6’s as it is our last primary school camp. Year 6-7 Transition
