Father’s Day Stall, BBQ and Maths Mingle – Thanks
Picture
I wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to our school community for making this week’s events such a success. It was wonderful to see so many families take the time to attend our Father's Day BBQ and Math Mingle. Your presence and participation truly made these events special for everyone involved.

A special thank you goes to our dedicated staff for their hard work in organising these events. Your efforts ensured everything ran smoothly, and the positive feedback from families is a testament to your commitment.

Also a big thank you to every parent and the PFA for hosting the Father’s Day stall. A wonderful opportunity for our students to purchase some lovely and affordable gifts.

Thank you all for your ongoing support and engagement with our school activities.

$400 School Saving Bonus - 2025
Every student enrolled in a Victorian government school for the 2025 school year will receive $400 support.
It will help cover the cost of school uniforms, textbooks, and school activities like camps, excursions and sports. You don’t need to apply to access the support.
From November 2024, parents and carers will receive an email from the Department of Education providing details on how they can access the $400 bonus.
The $400 School Saving Bonus is available for each child. That means a family with three school-aged children will receive a total of $1,200.
The School Saving Bonus is available in addition to other financial support including the Affordable School Uniforms program and the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund.
To learn more about what the $400 can be spent on, and other support available, visit vic.gov.au/school-saving-bonus
School Representative Council – Great job hosting your ‘Thank You’ event
Picture
This week, our Student Representative Council (SRC) hosted a special thank you lunch for our staff, turning their idea into a reality with impressive results. The SRC not only provided personalised thank you cards for each staff member but also took on the roles of waiters and servers during the event.

The lunch was a wonderful opportunity for our students to show their appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our staff. It was a great success, and our staff thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

This initiative is a fantastic example of our students' creativity and leadership, and it was heartening to see them bring their idea to life in such a meaningful way. Well done to our SRC for their efforts!

Kind regards,

Michael Gill
Principal

WHAT'S COMING UP
School Saving Bonus
Information
You may have seen the recent announcements of the School Saving Bonus, as part of the Victorian Budget 2024/25.  We are sharing the information we know about when and how families will be able to access this support.

Eligibility
The School Saving Bonus is available to parents and carers of every child enrolled in a government school. It is a one-off support of $400 to assist with school costs.
If your child attends a government school, you do not need to apply or do anything to receive the School Saving Bonus; the funds will be provided to your child’s school.
If you are a parent or carer of more than one child, you will receive the $400 School Saving Bonus credit for each child.
It will be available to families in 2025 and will be in addition to existing and continuing means-tested supports for camps, sports, excursions and uniforms (CSEF and State Schools Relief).

How families will receive the School Saving Bonus
Cash will not be paid directly to individuals or families (or paid in cash to families from schools), it will be received as a credit on their school family account to help meet the cost of activities and uniforms.
The Department of Education is working on the implementation of the school saving bonus and further information and guidance will be provided to schools and families soon, ahead of the implementation in 2025.

Inquiry Open Classroom

On Friday 7th of September at 3:15pm we would like to invite you to view our model of Oak Park Primary school.  During this time the Grade 1 classrooms will be open for you to view our Inquiry learning for term 3.

This Term we have been looking at our local community and features within it e.g., the roads, streets, landmarks etc. We then used this knowledge and located places on maps and took a walk around the school to aid us in the drawing a map of OPPS. We have applied our understanding to design and create a 3D model of the school.
We hope to see you there.

 Thank you
The Grade 1 Team.
