Sally and I want to extend our heartfelt thanks for all the kind messages, videos, and cards we received for Principal and Assistant Principals' Day. Your thoughtfulness and support mean the world to us.
We are incredibly grateful to be part of such a wonderful community, and your appreciation truly brightens our day. Thank you for making us feel so valued and for your continued partnership in making our school a fantastic place for learning and growth.

Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey – Links sent via Email
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey, and we are seeking your valuable feedback. The Department of Education offers this survey to help schools understand families' perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement.
Your opinions are crucial to us and will help identify areas for improvement and professional development needs. This feedback will guide our school planning and improvement strategies. Additionally, the department will use the survey results for research purposes to enhance student outcomes.
The survey is conducted online and takes only 20 minutes to complete. It can be accessed on any internet-enabled device, including desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones, and is compatible with most browsers.
The survey is available in English and 10 other languages: Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
Links to the survey have already been sent to randomly selected families via email. We appreciate your participation and look forward to your feedback.

Kind regards,
Michael Gill

VANS/UTES needed!

At various times next term we may need help to pick up or deliver items. We will also need help taking props to the Clocktower on Monday 16th September and returning items to school after the shows.
Thank you
The Great Book Swap
Mark your calendars for August 21, 2024, when Oak Park Primary School will be joining The Great Book Swap! This event is not just about swapping books but also about supporting the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, an organisation that brings culturally relevant reading materials to students in rural and remote communities across Australia. It's a wonderful chance for our students to explore new reading materials while making a meaningful contribution to a great cause.

Over the next 3 weeks, we invite students to bring in books from home that they're happy to donate. Drop off your donations in the box near the office. The Great Book Swap will take place during lunchtime on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Students are encouraged to bring some money on the day as each book will be available for just $1.

Last year, we raised $494.40 during The Great Book Swap! Let's strive to exceed this fundraising goal and make an even bigger impact this year!

Thank you for your ongoing support in fostering a love for reading at our school and for helping us contribute to the important work of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation!

SENIOR SCHOOL
Grade 5/6 Maths
This term in mathematics we have been learning about perimeter. We found a gap in between the rain and went outside to measure parts of the school! We then converted the measurements from meters to centimetres and millimetres. We practiced collaboration and used maths to answer real-life questions.
Did you know:
The basketball court has a perimeter of 82m?
Each vegetable patch has a perimeter of 10m?
The oval has a perimeter of a whopping 360m?

Here are just some of our happy 5/6s enjoying some outdoor maths learning experiences!

Moana Junior
F - 2 Colouring Competition

Students in Foundation, Grade 1 and Grade 2 are invited to participate in a colouring competition based on the Moana Junior school concert. This is not a compulsory activity. Only students that wish to enter the competition are going to be bringing home an A3 sized colouring page.

Students can collect a colouring sheet when attending their art classes, or they can pop by the art room at lunchtime, recess, before or after school to collect one.
Artwork entries for the competition are due back to David (OPPS Art teacher) or the Art Room no later than Thursday the 22nd of August.
Guidelines for students to keep in mind when colouring
You may add colour using:
  • Coloured Pencils
  • Coloured Markers
  • Crayons
  • Watercolour Paint
Other things to consider:
  • It is recommended that you don’t use pastels as they smudge and are difficult to add to smaller spaces.
  • You can add colour using any colours you wish. They don’t have to be the same as the Moana animated movie.
  • Try to colour all of the page.
There will be a winner selected from each of the year levels (F, 1 and 2). The winners will be selected by the Art Teacher (David) and the Grade 6 Visual Arts Captains (Alex and Eaintchue).

Competition PRIZE
The 3 winners receive a $50 Smiggle voucher and a pencil case with art supplies inside.
Please forward any questions to David Flint (OPPS Art Teacher) via email. Good luck to all students that enter the competition.

Moana Junior School Concert Poster Competition
Our school concert spectacular Moana Junior is fast approaching. It’s time for students from Grades 3-6 to get their creative wizardry fired up, to create a poster that represents all things Moana Junior.

Students were given the opportunity to begin their designs during art lessons in the final week of Term 2. Now it’s over to the students to work on their ideas for the concert posters at home. This is not a compulsory activity. Only students that wish to enter the competition need to complete the poster design.

Artwork entries for the competition are due back to David (OPPS Art teacher) no later than Thursday the 1st of August (Friday the 2nd is a Curriculum Day).

Guidelines for students to keep in mind when creating their posters
  • No tracing direct copies or directly replicating the Disney animated movie characters for the poster.
  • Any art medium may be used to create the poster as long as it can be scanned (no reflective or neon colours). Make sure to use rich colour that won’t fade when scanned.
  • The poster must be done in a portrait orientation.
  • Include the following information (text) on the poster
    - Oak Park Primary School Proudly Presents
    - Moana Junior (Jr.) title
    - Clocktower Centre – Moonee Ponds
    - Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th of September
    - 7:00 p.m.
    - The Disney Logo may be included on the poster, but not necessary.

Top 10 finalists will be acknowledged on the nights of the concert on the big screen in the Clocktower Theatre. Winning entry will be completed by a whole staff vote, with a points system

Competition PRIZE
The winner receives 2 free concert tickets, a poster sized copy of their artwork (laminated) and a large pencil case full of art supplies.

Please forward any questions to David Flint (OPPS Art Teacher) via email. Good luck to all students that enter the competition.
