Carols Reminder for December 5th A quick reminder that our Oak Park Primary School Carols are happening on Thursday, December 5th! 🎶 Details:
🎅 Special Visitor: We’re expecting a visit from Santa himself, so make sure the kids don’t miss out on the festive fun! Looking forward to seeing you all there to celebrate the holiday season together. Planned Open Streets – Thursday November 28th A great turn out for our last Open Streets event of the year, the weather was lovely and the chance to play in the street enjoyed by many students. A huge thank you to Gautam, Prateek and Melanie for their support all year to make Open Streets happen. Your commitment to these positive and active travel events in most appreciated.
We’d love to continue to host these events in 2025, but need more volunteers for the initiative to continue. To assist, the only requirements are a free 2 hour on-site training course and a Working with Children’s check, which are also free online. On the day, supporting either a morning (8:00-9:00AM) or an afternoon (3:00-4:00PM) would be a valued contribution. If you’d like to get trained and assist please email me. Teachers for 2025 Watch out for a list of 2025 teachers and year levels in next week’s newsletter, which will welcome some new faces to Oak Park. The ‘meet the teacher’ day is Wednesday 18th of December, but over the coming fortnight new staff will visit the school to meet in their 2025 teaching teams in preparation for the new year. Please note this list of teachers is the help students and families with transition into 2025, we are not seeking requests regarding specific teachers for specific students. This process has now been completed with great consideration and care. Relevant students and families with diagnosed anxiety or increased transition needs will be contacted by the Wellbeing Team next week to begin connecting certain students with their 2025 teacher. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal WHAT'S HAPPENING @ OAK PARK

Family Carols Night
We are excited to invite you and your family to our upcoming Family Picnic Night, where our students will delight us by singing Christmas carols! This will be a wonderful opportunity to come together as a school community, enjoy the festive spirit, and celebrate the end of the year.
Details:
While students will be supervised by teachers during the carol singing, parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children for the remainder of the evening. We kindly ask that children are not dropped off without an adult present. This is also a fantastic chance to meet other families, especially new parents in our community. And who knows--Santa might even make a special appearance! So, bring the whole family, soak up the sunshine, and join us in celebrating the end of year. We look forward to seeing you there! Japanese
In Japanese the Grade1/2 students have been working on creating their own books about pets. Students have used a range of vocabulary they have learned this term to introduce a pet and describe its age, colour and size. Students had the option of creating a hand written book or using book creator to complete the activity. Each student has done a great job describing a pet as well as illustrating each page. Students have also practiced reading their books and have recorded themselves on Seesaw. It has been wonderful to see the students bring all their knowledge together to create a wonderful keepsake. Visual Arts
Grade 3/4 Clay Aussie Animals Grade 3 and 4 students have been eagerly working on their clay Aussie Animals based on the artworks of Australian Artists Peter Cromer and Bronwyn Bancroft. The students first designed their animal on paper, including some design features used by the artists mentioned above. They added colour to these designs so that they had an idea of how they were going to paint their animals when dry. Next, the students cut out their designs to form a stencil or template that was placed on a rolled out piece of clay slab. They then cut around their design using clay cutting tools and peeled off the design when done. Students then added a second layer of design elements to the first slab cut out, learning about joining techniques to ensure objects didn’t fall off when dry. Once designs had been dried, students then painted their animals with acrylic paints, referring back to their original designs. Discussions about changing designs along the way were had, and it was decided that making changes to initial designs was all part of experimenting and improving their artworks. Below are some photos of the Grade 3/4 students at work, busily crafting and creating their unique Australian animals. Community News
