Term 4 Reminder: Swimming Program Returns to BlueFit at Windy Hill Just a reminder that our swimming program is back at BlueFit at Windy Hill, offering a fun-filled week for all students from Year 1 to Year 6. Thanks to school subsidies, we’ve kept the cost as low as possible down to $52 for the five-lesson program. Ensuring every child can develop a safe and confident swimming ability, a vital skill in Australia. The event is now live on Compass.
To make the experience even better, the swim centre will send out a survey beforehand, helping us place each student in a group that matches their skill level for maximum enjoyment and progress. Mark your calendars with these dates: Term 4 Swimming Program: Week 2: Year 1/2 – Starting October 13th Week 3: Year 3/4 – Starting October 20th Week 4: Year 5/6 – Starting October 27th Important Reminder: Morning Drop-Off Times for Families A friendly reminder to please ensure students are not dropped off in the yard before 8:40 AM. We can't wait to celebrate with you, Kate, Jasmyn and Sarah Grade 1
Grade 1 students have been working hard on their Reading and Writing this term. They have been learning all about information texts — what they look like, how they are structured, and the special features that make them easy to read. With this knowledge, students chose their favourite animals and began creating their very own information pieces. They carefully planned, drafted, edited, revised, and published their work — just like real authors! The students are very proud of their efforts, and we invite you to enjoy their wonderful writing pieces. SENIOR SCHOOL NEWS
Elevate Education Seminar
This week the Grade 6’s had the Elevate Education Seminar. We learnt important study skills to help with the transition to high school. We learnt how to take effective notes and how the human brain works with habits. We played mini games to learn how trigger words are so effective for our notes. We shared with our peers and took notes in real time. Everyone filled out a sheet to take home and left with high spirits. We had a great time and look forward to using these skills in the future. Performing Arts
Dancing Around the World in Grades 3–6 Our Grade 3–6 students have been on an exciting cultural journey through dance! Each week, classes are “travelling” to a different country to learn about and experience the unique dance traditions from around the world. This week, we travelled to India and explored the energetic and joyful Bhangra style of dancing. Students learnt seven different dance moves and even worked in groups to create their very own choreography. They also discovered that in many cultures, there are two main types of dances:
Next week, we are packing our passports once again and heading to Turkey. We are very excited that Pinar from our staff and some of our older students will be sharing their knowledge of the Halay, a traditional group dance that brings people together in celebration. Through this program, our students are not only learning new dance moves, but also building an appreciation for the rich cultures and traditions of people all around the world. What a wonderful way to celebrate the diversity of dance! Japanese
Foundation and Grade 1/2 students have been having lots of fun learning Japanese through hands-on activities. Recently, students have been using playdough to create Japanese characters, helping them practise their writing in a creative and memorable way. Foundation students have been busy forming kanji numbers from 1–10, while Grade 1 and 2 students have been focusing on family vocabulary, shaping hiragana and words for family members. This has been a wonderful way to connect movement, creativity, and language learning. The students have done an amazing job creating their characters, here are some photos of their playdough creations so you can see their great work. Visual Art
