Thank You for Your Support During Recent Industrial Action
On behalf of the staff at Oak Park Primary School, I would like to extend a sincere thank you for your understanding and support during the recent stop-work action on Tuesday, 24th March. We appreciate the patience you showed as we managed significant disruptions to our normal programs. Your support means a great deal to our teachers and Education Support (ES) staff as they continue to advocate for improvements to workload and pay, ensuring Victoria can attract and retain the high-quality educators our students deserve. Thank you for standing with our school community. Recognition of our brilliant Reading Intervention approach We are incredibly proud of the impact Oak Park Primary School made at the recent Area Principal Forum. Our presentation on Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and targeted reading intervention was a resounding hit, receiving very positive commentary from numerous fellow Principals and Senior leaders across the region. Myself, Sally and Amy had the privilege of delivering the presentation, which unpacked how we assess and support students requiring reading intervention across Year 1-6 using the MiniLit and MacqLit programs. The success is a direct reflection of the daily dedication of our entire team. This recognition is a testament to the pedagogical leadership of Amy Devlin and the expert, high-impact delivery by our Education Support (ES) staff: Ali, Michelle, and Susan. The feedback from system leaders specifically highlighted our ES team’s ability to monitor student progress fortnightly, ensuring every intervention is precise and effective. It is this level of data tracking and the resulting student growth that has positioned Oak Park as a benchmark for evidence-based practice. Building and Grounds Sub-Committee: 2026 Working Bees Join us for our upcoming working bees as we continue to spruce up our outdoor areas. Please save the following dates for 2026:
A sausage sizzle will be provided for all volunteers. Students are more than welcome to attend and help out, but they must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. To help us plan for catering and projects, please contact Chris at [email protected] to confirm your attendance and let us know which project best suits your skills. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal WHAT'S HAPPENING @ OAK PARK

Concert Reveal
Our students are SO excited to find out what our concert theme is going to be this year! As always, the Oak Park teachers and staff will dress up on the last assembly of the term and reveal to the students and community what the theme is! Last concert the students almost raised the roof with the excitement when they worked out that Moana Jnr was our concert theme, before that they couldn’t believe their luck that we were performing Lion King Jnr. What will be the surprise this concert year?
Concert dates are Tuesday 15th September and Wednesday 16th September. All students are required to attend both nights. The fun is just beginning! Come and join the excitement at the final assembly of the term when the theme is revealed! Assembly Timetable

Visual Arts
In the Spotlight - Grade 3/4 Artwork Focus Our Grade 3/4 students explored the vibrant and playful style of Romero Britto. Britto is a contemporary Brazilian artist known for his bold black outlines, bright colours, and joyful patterns such as stripes, dots, and hearts, combining elements of Pop Art and Cubism to create artworks that celebrate positivity and fun. Inspired by his unique approach, students created their own Pop Art animal artworks, choosing an animal that was meaningful or interesting to them, including pets like dogs or cats or perhaps indigenous or exotic animals. They began by sketching their animal using simple shapes, before dividing both the animal and background into sections with strong black lines. Each section was then filled with a different pattern, encouraging creativity and variety, and carefully coloured using bright markers and pencils to create contrast and visual interest. Through this artist focus, students developed their skills in line, shape, pattern, and colour, while building confidence in their creative choices. The artworks below are bold, expressive and full of personality, which shows the wonderful creativity of only a few of the students here at the school. COMMUNITY NEWS
