Principal's Column
Movie Night Success! Last night’s movie night was a resounding success, drawing a fantastic crowd of a couple of hundred people for a memorable community event. A big thank you goes to Sally and Amy for their invaluable help throughout the night, ensuring everything ran smoothly.
Financially, the event raised around $1300 in revenue for PFA fundraising. Overall, it was a wonderful gathering, and special thanks to Sarah and Sue from the PFA for their excellent organisation. We look forward to more community fun ahead and thanks to everyone that attended. Lowes – Successful launch at Airport West Lowes has successfully launched as our new uniform provider via their Airport West store, with stock arriving ahead of schedule. Families can now access the full range of uniforms in-store and online, with all back orders already fulfilled. This early availability has been well-received by the school community, ensuring students are well-prepared ahead of time. In response to demand, Lowes has already initiated the next production cycle, with additional stock—particularly Lowes-manufactured items—expected to be available from October. This smooth and proactive rollout highlights Lowes’ commitment to supporting families with quality and convenience.
Carpet Replaced, Library and Wellbeing hub re-open!
Over the school break, new carpet was installed in the Library and Wellbeing Hub, and we’re pleased to announce the space is now re-open! Students have already resumed library sessions in the full space and are enjoying the fresh, open layout. Our plan is to use the area throughout 2025 before making any further changes to shelving and organisation, allowing us to see how the space works best for staff and students. Kind regards,
Michael Gill Principal WHAT'S HAPPENING @ OAK PARK

OUR COMMUNITY HELPERS Are you in need of a home reno? Limb amputation? Strong coffee? Well, you don’t need to look far as every Wednesday morning the Foundation area turns into a Medical Centre, Construction Site and Hospitality Hub! To support our Inquiry unit about Community Helpers, students enjoyed discovery learning experiences by acting out some of our essential services including bakers, florists, doctors, vets, builders and demolition experts. Hugo enjoyed finding Kate’s cavities, Jasmyn’s jack hammered hole was marked out with caution tape, Wynter cooked up a seafood platter and Vishwa sweetened the experience with a lovely bouquet of flowers! Students will rotate between the Community Helper stations each week, we can’t wait to see what they get up to next… 100 DAYS OF SCHOOL
My knees are aching, my memory is fading, and don’t talk to me about the wrinkles… but what do you expect when you’ve been at school for 100 days! We are nearly 100 days of school old and to celebrate this wonderful milestone, we’ll be having a 100 days of school party on Wednesday 6th August (Week 3 of term 3). We love a dress up so we expect to see a sea of grey hair, bow ties and braces, pearls and rollers and perhaps even some knee high stockings. We’d love the Foundation kids to dress up too! The day will be filled with fun activities (but nothing too strenuous to throw out a hip…) including an afternoon snack of hot chips. We require a payment of $2 per student to cover the cost of the chips, a permission slip will follow shortly requesting consent and payment. Save the date, put it in your calendar, don’t forget (I know the memory can start to fade by 100) and start working out your costume now. Please see your classroom teacher if you have any questions. Kindest regards Kate, Jasmyn and Sarah Grade 2 News
GLENROY LIBRARY EXCURSION: In Literacy Term 3, the Grade 2 students will be exploring different non-fiction texts and identifying the different features. This will support students' learning as they will be creating their own information texts later in the term. To get students immersed into reading different non-fiction texts, we have organised for the Grade 2s to participate in a local excursion to the Glenroy Library on Thursday 31st of July 2025 (Term 3, Week 2). Students will be required to arrive at school at the normal time of 8:50am. After lunch (12:10pm), we will walk down to the Glenroy Library and the students will get to discover some of the exciting features that are offered there. We will return to school at around 2:30pm. As this is a local excursion, no payment or consent is required. We are looking for a parent helper per class to accompany us on this excursion. If you are interested and have completed the parent helper course, please email your child’s classroom teacher. Who is going to get in first? Kind regards, The Grade 2 Team (Jordan, Demi, Lauren & Alex) SENIOR SCHOOL NEWS

Calling All 1.125L and 2L Plastic Bottles – Art Show Preparation for Grade 1 and 2 Students As part of our exciting Great Southern Land – Beach to Bush Art Show in Term 3, all Grade 1 and 2 students will be creating a special artwork that requires a 1.125L or 2L plastic bottle (such as soft drink bottles). We kindly ask that each child in Grade 1 or 2 brings one clean, empty bottle to school and gives it directly to David, the Art Teacher, no later than Friday 4th August (The bottles can be dropped off at the art room any time or your child may bring it to their weekly art class). If you happen to have any extra bottles at home, we would greatly appreciate donations to help support families who do not purchase plastic bottles. Thank you for supporting our creative preparations – we can’t wait to share these artworks with you in Term 4 at our big event! Art Show - SAVE THE DATE
