Our Year 4, 5 and 6 students have successfully completed the 2025 Attitudes to School Survey, conducted last week. This annual survey, facilitated by the Department of Education and Training, provides valuable insights into our students’ experiences, engagement, and wellbeing at Oak Park Primary School. Our students’ responses will help us understand their perspectives on learning, school culture, and support systems, enabling us to tailor our programs to better meet their needs. We extend our thanks to our students for their participation and to our staff for coordinating this important initiative. The results will guide our ongoing efforts to foster a positive and inclusive school environment. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal WHAT'S HAPPENING @ OAK PARK

Art Show
SAVE THE DATE: We are thrilled to announce that Oak Park Primary School’s 2025 Art Show will be held in Term 4 on Thursday 23rd October! This year’s theme, “Great Southern Land – Beach to Bush”, celebrates all things Aussie and will showcase a stunning collection of student artworks inspired by our beautiful country. The Art Show is not just a celebration of creativity – it’s also a fundraising event to support our school. Families will need to purchase tickets to attend (more info to be announced around ticketing/entry), and every student will have one special artwork framed as a keepsake to commemorate the event. On the night, there will be plenty to enjoy including a sausage sizzle, refreshments, and a variety of raffles and silent auctions. We’re very excited to announce that some of the amazing items up for auction include:
Students have already begun working on their incredible artworks and are buzzing with excitement to share them with you at the Art Show. They are looking forward to seeing the reactions from parents and other family members, when they see their awesome artworks on display in the school gymnasium. If you or your business would like to donate items towards the raffle or silent auction, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact David Flint (Visual Arts Teacher) at [email protected] More information will about the Art Show will be available in coming weeks and will be made available via newsletters and Compass. Biggest Morning Tea - Cancer Fundraising
The staff at Oak Park Primary School are once again raising much needed funds for Cancer Research. I’m sure everyone within our Community has been touched in some way by this insidious disease, with families still dealing with loved ones fighting cancer. Over the years, quite a few of our staff have fought cancer, some more than once. Without funds being raised, new research just doesn’t happen, and outcomes don’t improve. Please donate to our excellent cause by clicking the link below. Any donation, no matter how small is gratefully appreciated. Character Design Art Competition
Our school is redesigning our School Wide Positive Behaviour matrix to make it more accessible to students. We are asking for students to draw a character for each of our three school values ‘Respect’, ‘Responsibility’, and ‘Resilience’. All students from Foundation-Grade 6 can participate. There will be one prize for each Foundation-Grade 2 and Grades 3-6 for the most creative entries. Entry forms can be collected from the office. Entries must be submitted to the office by Week 7 Friday June 6th. National Simultaneous Storytime 2025
On Wednesday 21st May, all students from Foundation to Grade 6 took part in National Simultaneous Storytime. This year’s book was The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel – a heartwarming story about a curious cat who finds an unlikely home in the back of a truck and explores the big, wide world on the move.
Students loved following the adventures of this furry traveller and imagining what life would be like on the road. After reading, each class took part in a follow-up activity. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the joy of reading together! Unexplained Absences
Once again, we would ask families to please clear their childs unexplained absences from Compass. It is a requirement that parents/carers notify their childs full day absence via Compass with the reason for that absence. With regards to late arrivals and early departures, we also ask that families do not notify these from home.

Please email John at [email protected] Thank you, PFA Book Club
Thank you to all families who placed an order in the last issue of Book Club. Orders have now been completed and delivered to the classrooms. If you have not received your order, please contact me asap. Your orders have generated $250 of rewards which will be used to purchase books for the school library. Your support of Book Club is appreciated and ensures the school is able to refresh the library collection. Be sure to look out for the next issue which will be available very soon. Foundation Fun - Bounce
The Foundation students had an excursion to Bounce on Wednesday as part of our Inquiry unit into ‘How to be Healthy and Active’. And geez we were active, we were bouncing all over the place! The students (and teachers) got to enjoy a range of activities that not only kept us active, but laughing as well. Jasmyn took dodgeball very seriously, Kate showed her expertise in bum drops and Sarah offered words of encouragement as they took a leap of faith off the high drop. The obstacle course was a favourite, as was the foam pit, and we were all impressed with the students bravery as they jumped from the high drop. A big thank you to our parent helpers Kim, Stella and Rohini. MIDDLE YEARS NEWS

Performing Arts
Grade 1/2 students are exploring Indigenous Australian storytelling through Drama. This week we have been reading the story When the Snake Bites the Sun. As a class, students used mime, body movement, and gesture to bring these stories to life, developing an understanding of how physical expression can convey meaning without words. This unit encourages students to reflect on the rich cultural heritage of Australia’s First Nations peoples, while also developing their expressive and collaborative skills in performance. Students have the option of wearing costumes which brings an added layer of meaning to the story and also lots of fun to the class! Physical Education
Dear Families, It has been an incredibly busy and successful start to Term 2 for all our little athletes at Oak Park. We have been working hard in our PE lessons learning about all things soccer- from basic passing and dribbling to advanced attack and defence strategies. The students have shown great determination to learn and have embraced the challenge in small-sided games. In other Inter School Sport news, the Grade 5 and 6 students have just finished week 3 of their Winter season. Currently our footy and girls netball teams are undefeated and hold top spot of the ladder. Our soccer team just recorded their first win of the year against Westbreen today while our mixed netball team is still on the search for their first victory. We have also completed our Glenroy District Cross Country event on Thursday 22nd at Boeing Reserve where our students had a fantastic day with some very pleasing results. Here is a brief list of our winners from the day:
