WHAT'S COMING UP
School Saving Bonus
Information
You may have seen the recent announcements of the School Saving Bonus, as part of the Victorian Budget 2024/25.  We are sharing the information we know about when and how families will be able to access this support.

Eligibility
The School Saving Bonus is available to parents and carers of every child enrolled in a government school. It is a one-off support of $400 to assist with school costs.
If your child attends a government school, you do not need to apply or do anything to receive the School Saving Bonus; the funds will be provided to your child’s school.
If you are a parent or carer of more than one child, you will receive the $400 School Saving Bonus credit for each child.
It will be available to families in 2025 and will be in addition to existing and continuing means-tested supports for camps, sports, excursions and uniforms (CSEF and State Schools Relief).

How families will receive the School Saving Bonus
Cash will not be paid directly to individuals or families (or paid in cash to families from schools), it will be received as a credit on their school family account to help meet the cost of activities and uniforms.
The Department of Education is working on the implementation of the school saving bonus and further information and guidance will be provided to schools and families soon, ahead of the implementation in 2025.

Wear it Purple Day
I’m Ricky, one of the great Wellbeing Captains at our school. Each year, on the last Friday of August, people dress in purple to celebrate young people in the rainbow community. During my run for school captain, one of my main goals was to introduce this day at Oak Park Primary because we have parents and students who are part of the rainbow community and they deserve to be seen and celebrated. On Friday August 30th,  join me by wearing something purple to show your alliance to friends and family in the rainbow community.

Kind regards,
Ricky 5/6C

Want to know more: https://www.wearitpurple.org

We will be selling Wear it Purple wrist bands (for a gold coin donation) during that week and all money will go towards the Wear it Purple Organisation.  This isn’t a casual clothes day; students can wear as much or as little purple as they like. Please remember it’s an opportunity for us to acknowledge, celebrate and accept each other’s differences. Students will be discussing the day in a respectful, age-appropriate way. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any of our Wellbeing Team.

P.F.A News
PFA News: Volunteers needed for Father’s Day Stall, 29 and 30 August
Dear Families,

The PFA’s Father’s Day Stall is scheduled for Thursday 29 and Friday 30 August, and we are seeking volunteers to help out with sales at the stall between 8.50 and 11 am. All volunteers at the school must have a current Working with Children Check.

If you are able to lend a hand, please email Selda at [email protected] indicating which day and time you are available. Even if you are only able to come along for an hour, it will be a big help!

Call-out for donations for Father’s Day Stall
This year the PFA’s Father’s Day Stall will be held on Thursday 29 and Friday 30 August, and we are looking for donations from the school community to augment the stock for the stall. Gifts are usually sold for between $1 and $6, so items such as key rings, socks or other small, simple handmade goodies are ideal.

If you are able to make or otherwise have something to donate, please email us at [email protected] to let us know what you would like to give and to organise drop-off details. We will need to receive donations by Friday 23 August.
The PFA Thanks you for your support!
