Working Bee – Thanks for the support!
I want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who braved the dreary weather last Sunday to support our school working bee.
Thanks to the incredible hard work of our volunteers, we successfully demolished the old, weathered planter boxes and constructed newer, taller boxes to improve our school grounds. We would like to extend our special thanks to Burke-Cappelli, Morris, Tripp, Smith and Griffin families for giving up their time and effort. We also greatly appreciate the support of Chris Burke for his fantastic organisation behind the scenes. Upcoming Evacuation Drill - Thursday May 28th Please be aware that we will be conducting a routine school evacuation drill next Thursday, 28th May. These drills are a standard part of our ongoing safety procedures to ensure all students and staff are familiar with our emergency protocols. To help prepare our younger students, junior school classrooms will be sharing a social story next week to walk them through what to expect in a calm and structured way. While we practice these exercises regularly, we know the sound of an alarm can sometimes cause minor anxiety. It would be greatly appreciated if you could have a brief, reassuring chat with your child prior to Thursday to let them know it is just a practice drill to keep everyone safe. School Review Parent Focus Group As part of our ongoing school review cycle, we value the input and perspectives of our school community. We would like to invite parents to participate in this process by joining a focus group discussion with our school review team. This is a wonderful opportunity to share your insights and help shape the future direction of our school.
If you are interested and available to attend, you are most welcome to join us. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal WHAT'S HAPPENING @ OAK PARK

TeamKids
The TK Big Skip is now in full swing at TeamKids! Delivered in partnership with Dairy Farmers, this term’s challenge has seen children getting active, building confidence, and enjoying screen-free play through fun skipping activities with their peers. It’s been fantastic to see so many children embracing the message of less screen time, more Oomph! Giving things a go, learning new skills, and celebrating their progress along the way. Please share the attached poster and below description with your school community to help encourage more families to take the leap, reduce the screen time and get involved. Science News Week 5 Term 2 2026 There have been some exciting lessons happening in the Science room this term. Over the last few weeks our junior scientists have been exploring gravity, forces and motion through a range of fun and engaging experiments. Students investigated how gravity affects objects by dropping balls of different sizes and weights to observe whether some objects fall faster or slower than others. They enjoyed making predictions, observing carefully and discussing their results with their classmates. Students have also been learning about Newton’s Laws of Motion through three exciting hands-on experiments. These included the “coin drop” experiment, a cotton ball catapult investigation and an energy transfer experiment using a basketball and tennis ball. Through these activities, students explored how pushes and pulls affect movement, how forces can change the motion of objects and how energy can transfer between objects. As part of their investigations, students completed simple lab reports where they recorded predictions, observations and conclusions like real scientists. It has been wonderful to see students developing their scientific thinking, curiosity and investigation skills throughout the unit. Secondary College Tours
