Parent Opinion Survey You are invited to participate in the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey. Your opinions are important to us, and your feedback will assist our school in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of the school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey will be conducted online and only takes 20 minutes to complete. The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026. To complete the survey, simply: 1. Click on the link below, or copy and paste the text into your browser. This link will take you directly to the survey. https://research.orima.com/parent 2. Concert Dates
Tuesday 15th September - SOLD OUT Wednesday 16th September Shows begin at 6:30pm (Students need to be dropped off earlier, details will be provided in the school newsletter) All students to attend both nights. If your family is attending one night please drop off your child at the theatre on the second night to ensure each dance is performed as rehearsed. Tickets on Sale now! Book Shrek JR. Tickets Online We expect both performances to sell out, so we strongly recommend purchasing your tickets as soon as sales open. Where Do I Buy Tickets? All concert tickets must be purchased through the Clocktower Theatre. For new families, please note that tickets cannot be purchased through the Oak Park Primary School office. Also if your child is performing onstage they do not require a ticket, tickets are for audience members only. If you have any difficulties purchasing tickets or have questions about your booking, please contact the Clocktower Theatre Box Office directly on (03) 9243 9191. 3 Ways to Purchase Your Tickets Option 1 – Book Online (highly recommend) This is the quickest and easiest way to purchase your tickets. Your 4 tickets can be used across either performance night. For example:

Which Night Should I Attend? All students perform on both nights, so families can choose whichever performance night suits them best. If your family is attending one night of the concert your child still needs to be dropped off at the theatre on the second night. Grade 5/6 Main Characters: If your child is a Grade 5/6 Main Character and you are unsure which night they perform their main character role, please check the attached file before purchasing your tickets. Please Purchase Early We expect both performances to sell out before concert night. In previous years, tickets have sold out before the performances, and there have been no tickets available to purchase at the door on concert night. We strongly recommend purchasing your tickets as soon as sales open at 10:00am today. We can't wait to see our students take the stage for Shrek JR.! Costumes list (Now Overdue) Students needed to have brought their required basic costume clothing items to school by Friday 14 August. All Grade Costume Details: here Grade 5/6 Costume Requirements: here Grade 5/6 Main Character Costumes: here Concert Absences It is expected that all students perform on both nights of the concert. Please let Melanie know as soon as possible if your child will be absent on either performance night (for example, due to a planned family holiday). Our rehearsals are planned with every student participating and costumes are being made now so early notice is greatly appreciated. Dress Rehearsal Excursion There will be a full dress rehearsal during school time on the first day of the school concert, Tuesday 15th September. All grades will catch a bus to the Clocktower Theatre and rehearse in full costume on the stage. It is crucial that all students attend this full dress rehearsal which will help the production run smoothly. All students to be picked up from school at 3:30pm as usual. Concert DVD/USB Available to purchase We strongly recommend families order a DVD of the concert. Students LOVE to watch the show over and over with family and friends. It’s a wonderful keepsake and also great to have a copy of the show for family members who can’t attend concert nights. There is also the bonus of the staff video on the DVD which is always popular with the students- hilarious! DVD/USB orders will be given to all families on Tuesday 1st September. Concert Merch! We have the help of our talented parent and t-shirt printing extraordinaire Phil Callaghan to help us create some Shrek merch for students and families. Please watch out for our Compass note with details on how to order! This merch is not just for students, we would love a sea of green in the audience on the night to support our school! Wear it PURPLE Day
At Oak Park Primary School, we value inclusive practices that ensure everyone in our community feels welcome, respected and that they belong. We believe that every person deserves to be acknowledged, valued and supported for who they are. At Oak Park Primary School, we have a range of supportive and inclusive practices, including implementing the Department of Education’s Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program, our Wellbeing Hub, Zoe our Wellbeing Dog, SEL groups and lunchtime clubs, just to name a few. Past Student Wellbeing Leaders advocated for Wear It Purple Day to be included in our annual calendar of inclusive events at Oak Park Primary School. Wear It Purple Day is an opportunity to celebrate diversity, promote inclusion and show support for people in the rainbow community. The rainbow community includes people who identify as LGBTQIA+, as well as their friends, families, allies and the broader community who support inclusion and belonging. Wear It Purple Day provides a wonderful opportunity to talk with students about the importance of respect, kindness, acceptance and inclusion, and to reinforce our school values of creating a safe and welcoming environment where everyone can be themselves. Wear It Purple Day will take place on Friday 28 August. Students and staff are encouraged to wear a splash of purple to show their support for inclusion and the rainbow community. Students can also choose to wear their school uniform on the day. 
2027 Enrolments
A reminder for families to request an enrolment form if a sibling is due to start school in 2027. We have quite a few families on our waitlist but require our in zone and sibling enrolments to be confirmed prior to offering further enrolments. Our Transition to school program will be starting in October. Student Attendance
If you have been notified via Compass that your child has unexplained absences, we ask as a priority, that you login to Compass and update these absences. Unexplained absences will affect your childs attendance percentage. If your child is going to be absent from school you are required to login to Compass and advise this absence with a reason. At this stage we have a huge number of unexplained absences and often multiple absences for some children. Your attention to this would be greatly appreciated. Concert News

Week 7 Thursday August 27th 9:00am Our Book Week Parade will be held on Week 7 Thursday 27 August at 9:00am in the gym. Parents and carers are warmly invited to come along and join us for the celebration. This year’s CBCA Book Week theme is Symphony of Stories. Students are encouraged to come dressed as a favourite book character and bring along a book that matches their character. A reminder that 5/6A, 5/6R, 5/6D and 1G can wear their Book Week costumes to the concert so have fun making them bright and sparkly! We always love seeing the creativity and enthusiasm our students bring to their costumes! Don’t forget that toy guns, swords or other weapons are not permitted as part of costumes. We look forward to celebrating another wonderful Book Week with our school community!

Container Deposit Scheme
♻️ Volunteers Needed for Our Container Deposit Scheme! A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our Container Deposit Scheme! So far, we’ve raised an amazing $1,100 — that’s 11,000 containers returned to the circular economy! Special thanks to our extended community as well - Kathleen Matthews Ward and her team, and the Glenroy RSL, for generously donating containers, and to Kathleen for supplying free collection bags, available from the school office. To keep this initiative going, we’re looking for volunteers to help collect and transport containers from the school and RSL to a CDS drop-off point. Even a one-off pickup would make a big difference! 💚 Interested in helping? EARLY YEARS NEWS
Foundation
PARAMEDIC VISIT: As part of our Inquiry unit about Community Helpers, the Foundation students received a visit from our resident Paramedic last week, Wednesday 12th August. Mark Griffin (parent of Amelia in Grade 3) showed and explained some of the main equipment he uses, including a heart monitor. Good news –despite making the machine beep and flash red, Kate is alive and well! After an extensive Q and A and sharing session of all their ailments and injuries, we were able to explore the back of an Ambulance, fingers crossed this is the only time they’ll see inside! The flashing lights and siren were a great hit. I am confident that they will all be great in an emergency and will remember to call 000. Thanks again to Mark for volunteering his time, the kids loved it! 
Grade 1/2 Melbourne Skydeck Excursion
On Thursday 20 August, our Grade 1/2 students set off on an exciting adventure to the Melbourne Skydeck! The students were full of excitement as they boarded the super-speedy elevator and travelled all the way up to the 88th floor. As the doors opened, they were amazed by the views of our beautiful city of Melbourne. From high above the city, students enjoyed spotting some of Melbourne’s most iconic landmarks, including SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium and Flinders Street Station. One of the highlights was hearing the Grade 2 students enthusiastically chant, “MCG!” when they spotted the famous stadium from their bird’s-eye view. It was a wonderful day filled with memories that will last for a very long time. A big thank you to our incredible parent helpers who were amazing on the day!
