School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports, Matrix Refresh! The Student Representative Council (SRC) and the Student Wellbeing Community of Practice have been diligently collaborating to create a new School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) matrix. This matrix supports students to understand positive behaviours that underpin our values and expectations at Oak Park. This updated version will be streamlined and concise, featuring enhanced pictorial information to better communicate messages to junior and neurodivergent students. Teachers contributed their expertise in drafting the content, while SRC members and Wellbeing Captains provided valuable student perspectives. To bring the matrix to life, an art competition was held, inviting students to design artwork for both Junior and Senior versions. Our fantastic artists Alyssa in Year 1 and Showa in Year 3 were voted the winning artists by SRC and School Captains. Congratulations on your brilliant designs that will be featured on our new school matrix! Alyssa – Year 1
There were many talented entries, so thank you to every child that took their time to submit a design. I’ve included some great examples to highlight and acknowledge the breadth of talented artists at our school.

Upcoming Open Streets Event Thursday June 26th – Supported by Dr Cranky
Riding, walking or scooting to school is a great way to start your day. We want to make sure every student at Oak Park Primary School can do just that, so we’ve partnered with Merri Bek City Council and charity organisation Dr Cranky’s to run a FREE School Bike Checks. Thanks to Dr Cranky for their first visit this Thursday and for their upcoming visit at our Open Street event on Thursday, June 26th.
Dr Cranky’s will fix bikes and if you don’t have a bike, they can provide a second-hand bike at no cost! So if your bike needs some repair, please come and engage with Bart and his awesome team, next Thursday, June 26th. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal WHAT'S HAPPENING @ OAK PARK

Student Led Conferences
On Wednesday, 25th June 2025, we will be holding our student-led conferences. These take place after you have received your child’s Semester 1 report and provide an opportunity for you and your child to meet with the classroom teacher. This is a pupil-free day (no classes will be running), but your child is expected to attend their conference. If you require care for your child on the day, Team Kids will be operating. Why are they called student-led conferences? The students will lead the start of the conference, showcasing their learning from Semester 1. Students in the junior grades (up to Grade 3/4) will use the Seesaw app to share their learning journey across a range of curriculum areas. Students in Grades 5/6 will use Google Classroom to present their learning. Will I get a chance to talk with my child’s teacher about how they are going? Yes. Once your child has shared their learning, you will have an opportunity to discuss their progress with the teacher. Please be mindful that your child will be present, so keep the conversation focused on celebrating their achievements and identifying future goals. Students will walk away feeling more confident if the focus is on their strengths rather than their weaknesses. How long does the conference go for? The conference lasts for 15 minutes. The student component will take approximately 5-7 minutes, with the remaining time allocated for discussion with the classroom teacher. We ask that you respect the short time frame, as delays can have a flow-on effect. For example, some families have back-to-back appointments with other teachers, and we don’t want anyone to miss their time slot. It may also impact the teacher’s ability to take a toilet or lunch break. If you feel more time is needed, please arrange an alternative time with the teacher to continue the conversation. Can I speak with the specialist teachers? Yes. Specialist teachers will not be taking bookings, but they will be available in the library for drop-in visits. You are not required to meet with them, but they will be available if you have any questions. How do I book a time with the classroom teacher? Bookings will be available via the Compass app from Wednesday 4thJune 2025. If you have any trouble booking, please contact the office. While we are unable to book times for parents, we are always happy to help you navigate the booking function on the app. Working Bee

EARLY YEARS NEWS
Grade 1 Fun
Our Grade 1s had a super fun time making fairy bread this week as part of our learning on procedural texts. They wrote their own how-to guides and included important features like an aim to explain what they were making, a list of ingredients, and clear numbered steps to show exactly how to make the treat. It was awesome to see them putting their writing skills into action — and tasting their delicious results too! SENIOR SCHOOL NEWS

Calling All 1.125L and 2L Plastic Bottles – Art Show Preparation for Grade 1 and 2 Students As part of our exciting Great Southern Land – Beach to Bush Art Show in Term 3, all Grade 1 and 2 students will be creating a special artwork that requires a 1.125L or 2L plastic bottle (such as soft drink bottles). We kindly ask that each child in Grade 1 or 2 brings one clean, empty bottle to school and gives it directly to David, the Art Teacher, no later than Friday 4th August (The bottles can be dropped off at the art room any time or your child may bring it to their weekly art class). If you happen to have any extra bottles at home, we would greatly appreciate donations to help support families who do not purchase plastic bottles.
