Thank You and Holiday Wishes As we wrap up 2024, I want to take a moment to thank you all for your incredible support and contributions throughout the year. Oak Park is a truly special community, with dedicated teachers, committed learners, and families who care deeply about making our school the best it can be. This year has been filled with highlights, from the magic of Moana and the excitement of the Fun Run to the joy of Open Streets, Carols, and our Social Trivia Night. We also celebrated our Year 6 Graduation – a wonderful event that marked an important milestone for our students. Each of these events is a testament to the amazing teamwork and spirit that make Oak Park Primary such a vibrant place to learn and grow. Wishing you all a safe, happy, and restful Christmas break. A reminder that school returns on Wednesday, January 29th for Year 1 to Year 6 students, with our Foundation cohort starting on Monday, February 3rd. Thank you for being part of this incredible community. We can’t wait to see what 2025 brings! Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal WHAT'S HAPPENING @ OAK PARK

Assembly Timetable
Last Day of School
The last day of the year for Oak Park Primary School is Friday 20th December. Our final assembly will start at 12.30pm on this day and school will finish at 1.30pm. All students MUST be picked up from school at 1.30pm, and a reminder that Team Kids will be running After School Care should you need to book in your child. School Saving Bonus
Any families who have not yet received their code for accessing the School Savings Bonus, please note below communications from the education Department: The distribution of School Saving Bonus emails to parents and carers, to provide a unique code to use for the $400 credit, started on Tuesday 26 November 2024. Due to restrictions imposed by Microsoft, parents and carers with email accounts provided by a Microsoft exchange server, or who use an Outlook or Hotmail account, have likely experienced delays in receiving their code email. We have worked directly with Microsoft to resolve this issue and have re-sent the code to impacted email addresses. Please encourage parents and carers who have not received their code email to re-check their email accounts, including junk or spam folders. To ensure all eligible families receive the School Saving Bonus, the implementation team is crosschecking 2025 enrolment information held on file in your child’s school (as at Tuesday 10 December 2024) against the School Saving Bonus code emails distributed to date. Any eligible families not allocated the code in the first instance will be picked up in this process and emailed their code during December 2024. C.S.E.F

Foundation
On Tuesday morning the preps had a very special delivery straight from the North Pole! The letters they sent off last week finally made it back and were returned by special elf helpers. First we had to smash the ice box open and then the preps and their buddies had a fun time reading their letters, and playing together on the oval. Fun in Foundation:
Last week the Foundation students headed off to Melbourne Zoo! We had such a fun day exploring and learning about different animals. Thank you to our amazing parent helpers for volunteering their time. Check out our day below: SPECIALISTS
Thank you
Dear Oak Park Families, What a year it's been! As we wrap up 2024, we wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you for an amazing year of learning, creativity, and fun. It's been such a joy working with your children across the specialist subjects – Visual Arts, Physical Education, Performing Arts, Science, and Japanese. From creating colourful artwork in the art room to getting active in PE, or putting on Moana JR in Performing Arts, we've loved seeing your kids explore, grow, and try new things. The Science experiments sparked so many "wow" moments, and the journey into the Japanese language and culture has been a fantastic adventure for everyone involved. A big thank you to all the students for their hard work and enthusiasm, and to you, the families, for your ongoing support throughout the year. Your encouragement makes all the difference, and we couldn't do it without you! We’re excited for what’s to come in 2025, but in the meantime, we hope you all have a relaxing and fun-filled holiday season. Enjoy the break, and we can’t wait to see you all again in the new year! FINAL MESSAGE FROM THE SUSTAINABILITY CAPTAIN - 2024 Hi everyone, I would like to thank everyone who has been involved with the Sustainability Crew this year. It has been a challenging but rewarding role as Sustainability Captain, but I have enjoyed bringing the environment into a greater focus at Oak Park Primary School. I ran the Sustainability Crew at lunchtime on Wednesdays throughout the year with assistance from Zoha 5/6C and Stephanie Lambiris. Here is a list of the things that the Sustainability Crew have accomplished in 2024:
I hope that the future Sustainability captains will continue to grow the Sustainability Crew, I'm sure they will have other ideas as well, so use them! I'm grateful to have been Sustainability Captain this year, and I wish the future Sustainability captains the best of luck for the future. Claudia 5/6C Sustainability Captain Science
Hi everyone, A huge congratulations to all of our amazing students scientists for all their hard work this year. We have had fun, made discoveries and learned how to stay curious about our world. I wish all our students a very happy break and I’m excited to see all the smiling faces returning to the Science room next year. Visual Art
Grade 1/2 Underwater Wonder Grade 1 and 2 Students worked on an artwork inspired by Australian artist Ken Done. The artwork was based on Done’s “The Fish Waiting For Their Dinner” (1997). The students combined 3 different art techniques and mediums to create this piece, so it was a bit of a challenge for these young artists. However, they produced some wonderfully colourful pieces. The artwork involved drawing, painting and collage techniques, and saw the students working on up to three pieces of paper at a time. They used pencils, markers, acrylic and watercolour paints as well as scissors and glue sticks to create these underwater wonders. Below are some examples of the artworks created by these budding Grade 1/2 artists. Wishing all of the ‘OPPS Family’ a wonderful and safe Summer break, and I look forward to working with your children again in 2025. Community News
