Principal's Column
Footy Colours Day A big thank you to everyone who came dressed in their footy gear to help us wrap up a busy term with Footy Colours Day.
There were some great activities set up by Liam and Sally, and the students had a fantastic time participating. A massive thanks also goes to our admin staff and the PFA for all their hard work supporting the sausage sizzle - it was a wonderful effort. We really appreciate all the positive cheer across the school to celebrate the final day of term. Have a safe and restful break and see you Monday 5th October for Term 4! Shrek Jnr – Thanks to students, staff and families for another amazing musical! I wanted to pass on a huge thank you to our entire school community following our fantastic performances of Shrek Jnr. The show was absolute magic, and the standard of performance from our students was nothing short of amazing. A production of this scale requires an incredible effort, and I am so grateful to our staff, who were fully committed and supportive every step of the way to bring it all together. Putting on a full-scale concert is a significant challenge, and it is something very special to Oak Park - not many primary schools take on an undertaking like this. It provided a wonderful opportunity for our experienced performers to shine on stage, and it was even more inspiring to watch students step into key roles and push themselves well outside their comfort zones. Finally, our largest and most special thanks go to Mel and Steph. Thank you both for your boundless enthusiasm, tireless dedication, and passion for our school concerts. You made this experience unforgettable for our kids. Thank you again to everyone who contributed to such a memorable event. Student Uniform Policy Review – Community Survey School Council is currently reviewing our Student Uniform Policy to ensure it continues to reflect the needs and expectations of our current school community. The implementation of our uniform policy plays an important role in enhancing student safety, supporting group security, and helping our students foster a strong sense of collective identity and pride in our school. While there are no plans to change our school colours, uniform supplier, or the affordability of our items, we are keen to gather your feedback on how the policy is set out and implemented day-to-day. As part of our commitment to keeping school wear accessible, we will also continue to support and encourage families to source plain, unbranded navy items for shorts, trackpants, and leggings from local retailers. We value your input in shaping our school guidelines. Please take a few minutes to complete our brief survey. We’ll seek responses until the beginning of Term 4. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. School Concert 2026
As the curtain comes down on our 2026 school concert, I think it’s impossible to put into words just how much work, love and care has gone into bringing this production to life.
First and foremost, thank you to our incredible production team. Stephanie Lambiris and Kate Dyer, thank you for the ideas, the creativity, the problem-solving, the laughs, the late nights and for somehow making the impossible happen! From ‘What’s Up Duloc’ to ‘I Need a Hero’ and everything in between, you brought so much imagination and energy to this production. It has been a huge team effort, and I feel incredibly lucky to have shared it with such wonderful people. Stephanie Lambiris, my assistant director, your passion and unwavering commitment to this production was inspirational and many times you pushed the production to higher levels. From your attention to detail with class costume organisation, creating ‘Duloc’ choreography and giving each and every lunchtime for two terms to rehearsals, this production simply could not have happened without you. Kate Dyer, thank you so much for writing and directing the staff video. You outdid yourself. I think we all had too much fun making it! A very special thank you to our Head of Costumes – Stephanie Lambiris and our costume team - Lola Grech, Antoinette Cartwright, Judy Cartwright, Sheryl Hamilton and Michelle Watson. The costumes helped transform our students into characters and brought the whole production to life. So much work happens behind the scenes that an audience never sees, and your creativity, patience and attention to detail made such a difference. To Kate Ducie, Cassie Arnold, Allison Penno, Alison German, Pinar Gulenc, David Flint and Sally Morath, thank you for everything you contributed behind the scenes. Whether you were helping with costumes, props, spotlights, organisation, rehearsals, set-up, pack-up or simply jumping in whenever something needed doing - every little bit mattered. Specialists! David, Liam, Stephanie and Nat. Thank you for being the best team ever, giving up your time and having endless patience. I am so grateful for everything. David and Liam, knowing I had you in my crew on backdrops and sound gave me confidence knowing everything would run smoothly. Go team! Thank you to our wonderful parent helpers, whose names appeared at the end of the production. We know that giving up your time isn't always easy, and the generosity of our families has been such an important part of making this concert possible. Our school community is incredibly fortunate to have parents who are willing to roll up their sleeves and help make special experiences happen for our children. Thank you so much to Phil Callaghan for making incredible Shrek Jr T-Shirts, costumes and giving up his time for both nights of the concert. Shout out to Roberts McCubbin Primary School for sharing your sets and costumes, helping us bring the production together. Your support and contribution have been genuinely appreciated. To every member of our school staff - thank you! A school concert is never just the work of the people whose names appear in the credits. It takes classroom teachers, ES staff, office staff, leadership, administration and so many others working together. Thank you for giving your time, encouraging our students, rearranging lessons and routines, helping with rehearsals, costumes, performances and all the little things that needed to happen along the way. The most enormous thank you and congratulations goes to our amazing students!!!! This concert was fantastic because of you! Thank you for your enthusiasm, your courage and your willingness to get up on stage and give it everything you had. Watching you work so hard for many long weeks has been wonderful. I loved watching you perform, support each other, laugh together and absolutely own that stage. Well done! I hope that you all made life-long memories and feel proud of yourselves for being brave enough to stand in front of a crowd and create something magical. And to our parents and families in the audience, thank you for being there, for cheering loudly, for supporting your children and for sharing in their excitement. The pride on your faces said everything. When we look back on this concert, I hope what we remember most isn't just the music, costumes or performances. I hope we remember the people the friendships, the laughter, the teamwork, the backstage chaos, the moments that didn't quite go to plan, and all the people who quietly stepped in to make things work. That is what makes a school community so special. Thank you, everyone, for making this concert something our students, and the whole school community will remember for a very long time. That’ll do!
