Resilience in Action: Our 3-6 Cross Country Success!
The sun was shining down at Boeing Reserve this week as our Year 3–6 students took to the march down the hill for our annual Cross Country event. It was a day defined not just by speed, but by the incredible resilience shown by every single participant.
Running long distances is as much a mental challenge as a physical one. Our 8, 9, and 10-year-old students showed great determination completing the 2km course, while our 11 and 12-year-olds dug deep to tackle the full 3km distance. Whether they sprinted across the finish line or maintained a steady jog or walk to the end, every student should be proud of their effort. A huge thank you goes to Liam, our dedicated teachers and the wonderful parent volunteers who marshalled the course and cheered from the sidelines. At Oak Park, we often talk about resilience as a core value. Completing a race like this is a perfect example of that value in practice. It’s about pushing through the moments when your legs feel heavy and finding the inner strength to keep moving forward. This "have a go" attitude is a skill that will serve our students well far beyond the sporting field. Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal WHAT'S HAPPENING @ OAK PARK

TeamKids
The TK Big Skip is now in full swing at TeamKids! Delivered in partnership with Dairy Farmers, this term’s challenge has seen children getting active, building confidence, and enjoying screen-free play through fun skipping activities with their peers. It’s been fantastic to see so many children embracing the message of less screen time, more Oomph! Giving things a go, learning new skills, and celebrating their progress along the way. Please share the attached poster and below description with your school community to help encourage more families to take the leap, reduce the screen time and get involved. Thank you for your continued support, it’s been great to see the energy and enthusiasm at your school this term. If you require any additional information, please reach out! EARLY YEARS NEWS
Grade 1
Inquiry Investigates How Toys Move This term in our Inquiry ‘Explore, Design, Create – Toys’, the Grade 1 students have been exploring how different toys move. Students investigated and sorted toys based on whether they could spin, slide, roll or bounce. Through hands-on investigations, students experimented with a variety of toys which move in different ways such as cars and ramps, marble runs, bouncy balls and fidget spinners. Later in the week, students revisited the toys to extend their thinking and investigate how to change the way the toys moved. Students explored how to make toys roll and slide faster or slower, as well as how to make them bounce higher or lower. It was wonderful to see students using inquiry skills such as questioning, testing and reflecting as they worked collaboratively and shared their discoveries with others. SPECIALIST

Grade 5/6 Shrek Auditions
This week, our Grade 5 and 6 students showed courage and enthusiasm during auditions for Shrek Jnr. With over 140 auditions for 7 lead characters (and 23 speaking roles in total), the energy and talent displayed was so great to witness. A huge thank you to the 12 staff members who generously gave their lunchtimes to help with the audition process. Their support made a huge difference for our students, helping them feel confident and encouraged every step of the way, this process couldn’t be done without the support of so many staff members. Auditioning takes courage. It requires students to step outside their comfort zone, embracing the challenge, and showing their talents. Regardless of the outcome, every student who auditioned has gained a valuable experience—one that will serve them well as they continue their journey through high school and beyond. With 23 roles in total (and some roles with double casting) we know that many students will have the chance to experience speaking on stage, our main aim is to have as many of our students have an opportunity. It takes effort and extra rehearsal for double casts but we think it’s worth the effort. We are aiming for the cast list to be revealed next Friday, 15th May- a day we can’t wait to celebrate together. Congratulations to all our Grade 5/6 students for their bravery and enthusiasm. The future of theatre at our school is bright, and we can’t wait to see these young performers bring Shrek Jnr. to life! Visual Arts
