Class Placements 2026 and Circle of Friends Lists
As we begin to plan our new classes for 2026, there are several important factors that will be carefully considered. In each new class, teachers will aim to ensure a balance of academic abilities, social competencies, behavioural traits, and inclusion needs, so that the classes at each level have an almost identical profile.
Additionally, this week students have completed their "Circle of Friends" sheet, where they will list five friends who support them in their learning in class. It’s important to note that students will always have at least one friend listed, and there is no hierarchy or order of best friends. This activity helps us understand social connections and supports a positive classroom environment. Please rest assured that all these factors are thoughtfully considered, as our goal is to create the best possible learning opportunities for all students. Given the complexity of this process, we kindly ask parents to not request specific friendship groupings or teacher preferences. Outside of the information above, if you believe you have extenuating circumstances we might not be aware of regarding your child’s placement for 2026, please provide these details via email to [email protected] . Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal WHAT'S HAPPENING @ OAK PARK

Foundation Breakfast
At the crack of dawn on Wednesday, the Foundation students dragged their weary, pyjama cladded bodies to school to partake in the annual Foundation Breakfast. Energy levels rose as the maple syrup flowed and teachers enjoyed a second cup of coffee! The event was a huge success with piles of pancakes consumed, along with oranges, watermelon and toast. A massive thank you to all of the wonderful parent helpers and older siblings who supported the event by chopping, flipping and serving, we couldn’t have done it without you. SENIOR SCHOOL NEWS
Year 6-7 Transition
Tuesday 9th December is a state-wide Year 7 Orientation Day for all Year 6 students attending a Government Secondary College in 2026. Further information will be supplied by the relevant Secondary College. SPECIALIST
Japanese
In Japanese, students have been learning how to ask and answer the question “What do you like?”. They have enjoyed practising conversations with their classmates and sharing their favourite things using the sentence “I like …”. Students are now creating colourful posters to show the things they like and adding Japanese sentences to match. We’ve seen lots of wonderful ideas — from sushi and soccer to cats and strawberries! Check out some of their fantastic work below. Physical Education
Oak Park Primary School has recently celebrated some outstanding sporting achievements across a range of events. Our Senior All Star Boys and Future Star Girls teams proudly represented the school at the Regional Hoop Time Finals in Werribee on October 28th. It was a fantastic day of high-level competition, with both teams showing resilience, teamwork and great sportsmanship. The girls battled hard against strong opposition, while the boys delivered an impressive run to the grand final, narrowly missing a spot in the State Finals after a nail-biting finish against Geelong Grammar. We are incredibly proud of how all students embraced the challenge with such positive attitudes. We also had several senior students compete at the Victorian State Athletics Championships on Wednesday 7 November. Congratulations to Hugo, who placed 6th in the 1500m, and Georgia, who finished 6th in the 800m. Our relay team—Alessandro, Hugo, Swaroop and Adam—put in a brilliant performance to place 9th overall, missing out on a finals berth by just 0.20 seconds. These are exceptional results at such a high level of competition, and we applaud all students for their efforts. Most recently, we held our swim time trials in preparation for the 2026 Term 1 District Swimming Carnival. It was a fantastic turnout, and we look forward to building on this momentum as we head into next year’s event. Congratulations to everyone involved in another exciting and successful term of sport at Oak Park Primary School! Performing Arts
We are excited to invite you and your family to our upcoming Family Picnic Night. Students will be singing Christmas songs and it’s a wonderful opportunity to come together as a school community and celebrate the end of the year. Details:
While students will be supervised by teachers during the singing, parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their children for the remainder of the evening. We kindly ask that children are not dropped off without an adult present. This is also a fantastic chance to meet other families, especially new parents in our community. And who knows—Santa might even make a special appearance! So, bring the whole family, soak up the sunshine, and join us in celebrating the end of year. We look forward to seeing you there!
