Thanks to the SES and the Community
We are thrilled to share the success of this term’s Open Street! The event was an incredible success, with both the morning and evening sessions being well-attended by students, parents, and community members.
We’d love to continue to host but need more volunteers for the initiative to continue. To assist, the only requirements are a free 2 hour on-site training course and a Working with Children’s check, which are also free online. On the day, supporting either a morning (8:00-9:00AM) or an afternoon (3:00-4:00PM) would be a valued contribution. If you’d like to get trained and assist please email me. $400 School Saving Bonus - 2025 Every student enrolled in a Victorian government school for the 2025 school year will receive $400 support. It will help cover the cost of school uniforms, textbooks, and school activities like camps, excursions and sports. You don’t need to apply to access the support. From November 2024, parents and carers will receive an email from the Department of Education providing details on how they can access the $400 bonus. The $400 School Saving Bonus is available for each child. That means a family with three school-aged children will receive a total of $1,200. The School Saving Bonus is available in addition to other financial support including the Affordable School Uniforms program and the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund. To learn more about what the $400 can be spent on, and other support available, visit vic.gov.au/school-saving-bonus Kind regards, Michael Gill Principal WHAT'S HAPPENING @ OAK PARK
WHAT'S COMING UP
School Concert
***Please note. Students will need to be signed in and out by a parent/carer each night of the concert
Please ensure you sign into Compass and consent and pay for your child to attend the Rehearsal on Monday. Your child will be unable to attend unless you have consented. School Concert USB Orders
School Concert USB order forms have been sent home. Please note there is an error in the date these orders must be returned by. The correct date for them to be given into the office is WEDNESDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER. Both nights of the concert will be available on the USB and will cost $40 each. Please return your forms to the office School Concert Clothing Items Clothing items required for school concert- PLEASE READ Oak Park Primary School will provide most costume items, yet we do require basic garments to be worn underneath costumes. These basic garments are usually items students already wear to school or we predict most students already have. We request these clothing items to be labelled and given to your child's teacher no later than Monday 9th September. We require these items to be at school so we can have our full dress rehearsal and also have these items ready at the Clocktower for the concert nights. All items will be given back to students after the concert. List is attached and also on the school website under "Parent Information" > "Concert 2024". https://www.oakparkps.vic.edu.au/concert-2024.html Students wear school uniforms on both nights of the concert to the Clocktower Centre venue. This allows our staff and Clocktower staff to easily identify our students during sign in and sign out in the foyer. Long hair to be in a neat ponytail unless otherwise specified. 2025 Foundation Transition
We are looking forward to welcoming parents/guardians of our 2025 Foundation students to our Foundation transition sessions next term. During these sessions your child will get to meet one of our 2024 Foundation teachers, participate in some activities in the classrooms and meet some of their 2024 peers. Please see attached our timeline including the dates, times and important information for our 3 transition sessions as well as our final ‘Meet the Teacher’ session. If you already have a child at Oak Park Primary School and you will be enrolling that childs sibling for 2025, but have not yet completed an enrolment form, please email Fran to complete an enrolment form as soon as possible. [email protected] You may also collect a form from the office WHOLE SCHOOL

School Saving Bonus
Family Information Forms You would have received on Friday 06/09 (please check students bags when they get home) information around the School Saving Bonus which will be paid as per details on letter for the 2025 school year. Along with this information is a request for you to look over the enclosed Student Enrolment Information Form to ensure that all details are correct. If any details are incorrect or need to be amended, please amend on this form and return signed documentation to our administration office by 13th September. Please note that if no information on the form needs updating and all details are CORRECT then this enrolment information form does not need to be returned to our office. 2024 Grade 6 Parents Please note that this form has been enclosed for you to check details however, if updating needs to be done please contact your child's 2025 high school to update the information with them directly, as the school saving bonus will be paid to the high school not Oak Park Primary. Thank you for your prompt assistance. Lunch Orders
Please note, Lunch orders MUST be ordered via the QKR App by 11am Thursday each week. There have been many late lunch orders being passed in via the office or directly to Sweet Karma, which doesn’t allow time to ensure there is sufficient catering. Once 11am Thursday passes we are unable to accept any further lunch orders. When you order a lunch order, you will get an email confirmation. If you do not receive this email confirmation, then your lunch order has not gone through. Students have also been advising that they didn’t receive their ordered lunch, when in fact, Sweet Karma has no record of that order. Office staff will call families in future to follow up. There will be NO LUNCH ORDERS available on the last day of the Term, Friday 20th September 2024 Parent/Caregiver Opinion Survey
The 2024 Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey has been extended until the end of term3, Friday 20th September. We would ask that all families who were invited to participate, please do so at your earliest convenience Trivia Night

Grade 1 Inquiry

3/4 Mt Evelyn Camp! It almost seems like yesterday when all the super eager 3/4 students hopped on the bus to embark on our 3-day journey to the picturesque scenes of Mt Evelyn Discovery Camp. You could tell from all the loud cheers and wild sing-along on the bus; feelings of excitement and anticipation filled the air, and the 3/4 students were destined to make memories that would last a lifetime. From the get-go, all students accepted every challenge thrown their way and stepped out of their comfort zones with admirable resilience. Some monumental highlights include witnessing students….
Here are some memorable moments that stand out from the 3/4 students… My favourite activity was going to the top and feeling the drop of the giant swing. Sophia 3/4J My favourite activity was the giant swing because I went to the top and I nearly fainted when others pulled the rope Georgia 3/4J My favourite activity was the flying fox because it went really fast. Asim 3/4J My favourite activity was the flying fox because I felt like was literally flying and I had weird feeling in my stomach when I reached the end. Hunter 3/4J My favourite activity was the giant swing because I felt the fresh air when I was swinging in the air. Mohammed 3/4J My favourite activity was the giant swing because it started off really scary but once you go higher and higher, it is really fun! Zoe 3/4J My favourite activity was the giant swing. When you go up, you might feel like you're going to throw up but once you pull the rope, it is one of life’s most exciting parts! Asher 3/4J As you can tell from these memorable moments, our 2024 3/4 camp was proven to be a real success. We wouldn’t be able to have such a successful camp without the support of our parent helpers: James, Rory, Liz and Paul. But most of all, we commend all the 3/4 students for making camp a memorable one! SENIOR SCHOOL

Visual Arts
Spring @ OPPS in the Art Room Students in Grade 1 and 2 have been working on some Vincent van Gogh inspired sunflower pastel watercolour resist artworks in Visual Arts classes. The students viewed some of van Gogh’s sunflower collection painted in Arles, in the south of France, in 1888 and 1889. The students also practised their skills in using pastel watercolour resist techniques, and also learned about what parts make up a sunflower such as petals, stamen, stigma, leaves and a stem. The students thoroughly enjoyed learning about Vincent van Gogh and have a great time experimenting with the pastel watercolour resist technique. Below are some examples of the artworks created by the student. There are also some of these beautiful sunflowers displayed in the art room windows. Chess Tournament
