Open Streets – Thanks to attendees and volunteers!
Picture
A huge thank you for making our third Open Streets event for the year a success on Thursday. Your enthusiasm and participation brought such a vibrant buzz to Summit Avenue before and after school, promoting active travel together in style. Special thanks to the Thanks A Latte coffee van, Melanie for leading the event and all the volunteers for their support.
Oak Park Primary School Art Show
Picture
Our whole school Art Show is fast approaching, and the excitement is building across the school. Students from all year levels have been working hard in Art lessons, preparing creative masterpieces depicting this beautiful country we live in.

This will be our first Art Show for many years, and we are thrilled to make it a true celebration of creativity, community, and connection. The Art Show is a fundraising event, so it will be a ticketed evening for adults that attend. We are hoping to raise funds to assist with upgrading the school’s playgrounds.

Families are warmly invited to join us on:
When: Thursday October 23rd – 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Where: Oak Park Primary School Gymnasium

The evening will showcase student artwork, but also be plenty of fun for the whole family, including:
  • A Sausage Sizzle and drinks
  • A Silent Auction featuring artworks from Aussie icon Ken Done, local artists, ‘Yard Art’ bottle top murals and an Indigenous themed quilt (made by our very own Sheryl Hamilton).
  • A raffle with exciting art and local business hampers and vouchers.
  • As a special keepsake, every student/family that attends the Art Show, will receive one of their child’s artworks in a frame to take home at the conclusion of the show.
  • Purchase Art Show T-Shirts (4 different designs available) on the night of the art show from the t-shirt printing stall.
  • Order your child’s framed artwork printed on a T-shirt from the T-Shirt printing stall, kindly organised by Phil Callaghan (one of our parents at the school). Order forms will be available and t-shirt selection to also be done on the night of the show.

Silent Auction Highlight
We are honoured to announce that world-famous Australian artist Ken Done has generously donated two signed artworks to help fundraise for our school. These incredible pieces will be on display during the Art Show, and the highest bidders in the Silent Auction will take them home.

Sheryl Hamilton has also designed and created a beautiful Aboriginal themed quilt, seen below.

Tickets will go on sale on the first day of next term – Monday 6th October.
  • $10 per adult
  • Students/children under 18 years attend free.

This will be a wonderful evening to celebrate the artistic talents of our students, enjoy a family outing, and connect with other members of our school community. Plan to stay for an hour or two to soak up the atmosphere and support our young artists.

All friends and extended family are welcome – the more, the merrier to help raise funds for upgrading the school playgrounds! Full details will also be available in our weekly newsletter and on the school billboard QR codes.

We can’t wait to see you there!

Kind regards,

Michael Gill

R U OK Day
🟡 R U OK? Day – Thursday 11 September 2025 🟡
Theme: "Ask R U OK? Any Day"

R U OK? Day is a national day of action that reminds us all to check in with those around us — not just today, but any day someone might be struggling.
This year’s message, “Ask R U OK? Any Day”, encourages us to notice the signs that someone might not be okay, and to make asking a part of our everyday interactions. You don’t need to be an expert — just a good friend and a great listener.

How you can take part:
  • Take a moment to check in with a colleague, friend, or family member.
  • Ask “Are you OK?” and be prepared to really listen.
  • Encourage ongoing conversations and remind people they’re not alone.
  • Sometimes a simple question can make a powerful difference.

Let’s create a culture where we look out for one another — not just on R U OK? Day, but every day.

MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS
Grade 3/4
Middle School News: Non-Fiction Writing
On Friday 5th September 2025, in Session 4, students across the 3/4 cohort shared their Non-Fiction published work with each other. 3/4M was divided into four groups where they went to one of the four classrooms and students shared within portables. It was great to see students keen to share their work, especially as there was a digital component to the final task, so many carried iPads and read from their screens. Students also had soft copies of their writing and shared their work with hand-drawn illustrations.

Here are some photos from the session.
